MMD discussion and sharing

Banns and upload speed. Pikpak has a client that allows files to be read directly from the hard drives without first needing to have a slow browser ingest that file. download side is bad but it is more of a p2p style (like a torrent), so some download on pikpak can do 50MB/s while some limit it to 2MB/s.
I'd believe you if at least one of the different pikpak links shared here had fast DL speed, but each, and everyone has a maximum 20KB/s speed. Already looked cofig menu, tried different routers including those at work.

@Mioxoxoxoxo tbh, If I had access to $ or JPY I'd directly pay to the creators since they deserve it, and my favorite file hosters. But alas, I'm still searching for a trusted app or service that accepts my local currency to convert to dollar or yen.

not sure why you are getting such terrible speeds. Maybe check your network for speed test. Even when i used a free account i would still get 2MB/s as a total speed. on my premium account it doesn't get much better but is less of a hassle. Maybe these settings?

pikpak is fine for me %90 of times but sometimes some videos takes ages to load and start i don't know why. When i open task manager and look network usage pikpak doesn't seem to send me the data i need i see 0 down speed but after 20-30 second it starts to load video might be the computer related idk

here is mine for comparison sake, free account
As a free account, i save the videos, download them, move the files out of the folder, remove them from my account. It's pretty straightforward. I am also using default settings.

I do the same as you, the problem is only for pikpak for some reason, other file hosts go as fast as 50+MB/s, even more if it's a torrent.

I saw you guys talking about Pikpak, so I'll add my two cents. Haven't you noticed something odd? Why do they keep uploading to Pikpak, putting up with that clunky interface and slow download speeds?

The answer is Pikpak's referral program.

To get the files they upload, you absolutely must sign up for Pikpak. The ‘free account’ you create this way comes with a tiny 6GB storage capacity. Then, you have to move the files over to that tiny storage space before you can download them.

Here's where the problem lies. Most files uploaded by others will be massive. Collections spanning tens or even hundreds of gigabytes are commonplace.

(This massive upload capability exists because when you upload a file, pikpak checks its hash value. If it already exists on their servers, they add it directly to your storage.)

Faced with such massive collections, you'll likely grow frustrated with the free account's limitations and end up paying for a premium account.

This is precisely their goal. Once you pay, pikpak pays the uploader a certain percentage of credits, which the uploader can then cash out.

There's no need for referral codes like we commonly know. They simply upload massive files using the convenient method mentioned earlier and post links where many people can see them.

Simple and clever, right?

Of course, not every pikpak uploader on this forum is like that. Some genuinely share files with us out of kindness. But are they all like that?

Oh, sure, you might think that.

“So what's wrong with that?”

Just because the upload method is simple, or because they profit from it, doesn't make it inherently evil. Yes, that's true.

But I hope you'll consider it differently. If you're in a position to pay for a pikpak premium account, why not use that money to support the content creators instead?

Is going through the middleman really necessary? The way to directly support the creators of the MMD videos and content you truly love, and to watch videos quickly and easily without waiting for a ‘hero’, is right next to you.

I want you to know that.

[...]
I agree with you that there is a scheme going on in the background that manipulates us into being okay to pay for pikpaks services, as is with MEGA's download limit or pixeldrain's soft cap limit.

As a pure enjoyer and hoarder of hentai, I am most frustrated about unnecessary file bloat which caused me to spent time compressing whatever I have into acceptable file sizes that are fit for long-time conservation.

All I can do is to urge people to reconsider using pikpak as a service to upload files larger than 6GB and to keep in mind that these files are unfit to be shared. It's as if there is a niche paying group inside of the niche sharing group.

i think i got this video here. but i don't know anything.
what the artist's name is and if there are any other works by this artist.
if anyone knows about this, let me know.

Guys please let's avoid using Pikpak for sharing...(if possible)
Why bother with Pikpak when we have so many better options like:
Mega.nz
Pixeldrain
Fuckingfast.co (No subs needed to DL)
Gofile (No subs needed to UP/DL)
Transfer.it (No subs needed to UP/DL)
Kio.ac (No subs needed to UP/DL)

as Mr.0EIK8BR1E5T has said in #16,290
If your goal isn't to make money off other people's content by forcing them into paid plans, please consider using another sites above instead of pikpak.

Of course I know that not everyone who shares files via Pikpak is doing it to make money — from what I've seen most of Pikpak users here seems to be great persons. but you should know that unlike the other platforms, Pikpak links are just way too inconvenient and restrictive for people who aren't signed up or who stay on the free plan
(I'm one of the people who instantly skips Pikpak links)

I basically never or rarely see anyone complaining about the big three we usually use here: Mega (rarely), Pixeldrain (rarely), and Gofile.
But I constantly see people complaining about Pikpak and Baidu links, begging for mirrors on PD or Gofile.

I see these:
"Can someone mirror this [Baidu] link to Pixeldrain or Gofile ?"
"Can someone mirror this [Pikpak] link to Pixeldrain or Gofile ?"

but I don't see these:
"Can someone mirror this [Pixeldrain] link to Baidu or Pikpak?"
"Can someone mirror this [Gofile] link to Baidu or Pikpak ?"

You would agree that you've seen these types of requests, where people ask to mirror Baidu and Pikpak links to Gofile or Pixeldrain, and this is obviously an indicator of which platforms people are not using and which platforms they are using.

When that many people are asking for mirrors and not willing to pay for premium… there's clearly a reason.

With Baidu, personally, even if I wanted to subscribe, I can't easily do it from my country. I think you're all like me—"just can't subscribe to Baidu".

but with Pikpak I totally could pay for premium — I just don't want to. Why would I, when I'm already paying for Mega and Pixeldrain premium and they're way more convenient?

So if you actually want to share stuff and make it easy for everyone, please consider using a platform that's convenient for all of us.

I pay for Mega and Pixeldrain premium myself and love them, but for anyone who can't (or doesn't want to) pay for premium—Gofile, Transfer.it, and Kio.ac are great free options that work well for most people.

Let me play an advocatus diaboli a little bit, for I afraid we might cherish tactical victory over strategical one.

Pikpak is a business, so it has to make money from it's users. Any user who has a free account makes negative impact on this business. Imagine you downloaded 2Tb worth of the same rendered koikatsu scene with different characters. You paid nothing, but Pikpak has to pay it's hardware provider for that traffic. If there are many users like this, Pikpak goes bankrupt with all those precious collections. Hence 6Gb limit, hence low-speed downloads, etc. etc., anything to reduce the financial damage from free users. Unless you're a stalwart gooner with a bunch of accounts, proxies, HDDs, you don't do much harm to their business. (I personally cannot consume gigabytes of data daily, so a few free accounts is all i need.)

Premium users are blessed ones. They keep the business alive and more importantly compensate expenses for free users. Pikpak has two main ways to make profit:
- increase the prices (so premium users would pay more for the same service)
- increase the pain of free users (so they either stop using pikpak or buy premium)
The first option has an obvious limit (if the price is too high, some users will quit and overall revenue will go down), the second one is more suitable to make financial reports look "better". In case of crisis free users will be the first ones to take a hit. As long as there are enough premium users, free users can "enjoy" the current restrictions.

Unfortunately, I can argue against calling them greedy. Their business is risky, since they profit from piracy and porn, so the margin profit is also should be high. Like, why keep it running with a high chance to be arrested when you can get the same salary as a salesperson?

Alright, enough with economics! The main point of this rant. I wouldn't even lift a finger to write this post, but a miracle has happened today.

A hero posted a collection of mmd-videos and to my surprise there were works of an artist that actively monitors this thread and many other sites to send takedown requests. I thought "oh my!" and immediately started downloading everything. At some point Pikpack limited me for no reason, but it turned out to be a bug.
(I hope I gave enough signals for those who like me was searching for these works!)

I don't know how DMCA works, I never read EULA/ToS, but given what kind of stuff I've already seen on Pikpak, it has different rules than Pixeldrain and Gofile. Which brings us to the point: it's always good to have backup options.

---- end of an advocatus diaboli mode ----

Well, shitpak is a hilarious name, that made my day!

6Gb limit is horrible, download speed is horrible, but what makes the most torture of using this service is a biblically accurate reimplementation of explorer.exe on a Pentium-4-powered PC with dying HDD into my browser. Every click is a torture!

I don't understand this community's aversion to torents. They don't get dmca'd and you can pick and choose or download everything. There's enough people here that they could be seeded forever even if most people only download one or two from a collection. I've been seeding the collection torrents from f95 for years now and people are still downloading them e.g. this HDL collection torrent from 2023:
