Trying to start the game you receive an error "this game is Japan only", followed by what I assume is requirement of a japanese windows.

I don't get any error. That must be because you are not with japanese system or not running with applocale and possibility of not running in japanese time of GMT+9.

If you run with Visual Novel Reader you wont get those issues since it simulate all that. If you go with the ITH then run with applocale and see.

I always switch the system language to japanese which has always worked for other games. Guess I'll keep trying, or try VNR.

I didn't mentioned it before because I thought you did it but did you copy/pasted the patch after the install in the game folder? If you didn't then maybe is that the cause that isn't working :X
