Do i need a crack for DL versions of games

I have just downloaded a pirated DL copy from getchu of taimanin akagi.
It didnt include any crack patch in the zip file so i asumme i dont need any crack
but i am sure that i have had experience with some DL erogames that have some anti-piracy measures like some some battery thingy or codes that require me to enter

do i really not need any crack for it?

Not too familiar with crack files, but sometimes the game or program files are already cracked when download, in your account just try and open it, and search for a crack code if the program pops up with key needed or error.

A quick answer for Lilith games, they don't use any protection.

For all other games, Yes and No.

Some games have protection only on DL version, no protection on Package version.
Some games have different protection type for DL version. Such as soft-denchi if you buy on DMM, PlayDRM if you buy on dlsite.

Most uploaders do not care if the content is playable or not. Quite obviously no uploader will state the game is unplayable, as it deter people from downloading.
On the other hand, stating (Cracked) to a DL version game can be misleading, because in most cases the Package version doesn't need a crack.

Further more, in some cases, especially for PlayDRM, most game files are encrypted, a crack involve a full re-download of the decrypted version, or, the actual DL version...

Or most of all japanese games always crash because the ero games need to join in japanese locale.
therefor not need crack patch etc. just to says :P

thx. could i ask how do i search for cracks in a reliable fashion? i know i can always google but my experience with downloading eroge thru google is that mos t of the time the links are either dead or malware-ridden phisng sites

The forums here are the best place I have found.

Do an advanced search of your game (explanation marks cause a search error). Choose option "Search Titles Only", then pick the thread of your game with the most reply's and read through that.
