I like blind guardian, although their latest album felt a bit generic.
I also prefer single player campaigns, it is a bit of a shame they seem to be leaving quake as their "multiplayer only" series, but maybe we're gonna see another with a campaign at some point? Although I'm having less and less time for videogames, especially because in my free time I'm also trying to do all this other stuff like meddling with japanese and trying to draw etc. I still haven't finished nier automata

Symphony X! Haven't been into them in a good while haha, but I loved them years ago. How about Blind Guardian?

Looks promising, although I wish they were making a big campaign too. Wolfenstein The New Order was also amazing, then Doom, so they were on a roll... I bet a new Quake campaign could have been epic. I like Quake 2 a lot, but it would have been interesting if they could have taken Quake back to its neo gothic sci-fi roots like the first one, which seems to be Champions. But it's multiplayer only...

I didn't like Wolfenstein The Old Blood that much, but there's been a lot of rumors that they're working on a sequel to The New Order.

I love metal, it's my favorite genre, in fact the "prog" in my name is for progressive metal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_z3AHbjeb1U but i also like heavier stuff from time to time. Doom's ost was pretty good, especially the parts with the 8 string guitar, but it's true that in some parts it gets too "dubstep" and kinda makes you miss the old soundtrack with all the tracks ripped off from all sorts of heavy metal songs =P

I didn't love Doom 2016's music, bit too dubstep for my tastes. But it was still cool.

I think if they got Sonic Mayhem to compose though it would have been even better, it's still kind of electronica/dubstep, but check this out:

The waiting game is a tough one, but I hope the results are positive.

I feel like I have ideas at the least useful moments, lol. Sometimes it's also having the ideas but struggling with the execution.
