What Are Tala Shoots? (Plant-related)

I recently came across the term "tala shoots" some sort of edible plant shoots(?) in Toho Sangetsusei Chapter 8 but upon searching, I found no match for "tala shoots" or anything related that is edible like that. Someone clarify if tala shoots are real or not?

and if you scroll bellow it's used in Japanese Tempura...or so the article says.

Probably, tala shoots = Aralia Sprout. (In japanese, "taranome" = "タラの芽".)

Ah~ha. So that's what it meant. The manga shown shoots look much bigger than the stalks tho.
