you could try using "ntleas" to run in Japanese Unicode,use gooogle to find correct version.hope that helps

for me it always happens and in the past with previous stargate series. you can view all the files individually in the folder instead of opening them with the game exe. at least i was able to with the previous stargate games. so check and see if this also has individual files in the game folder.
