I learned Japanese cause I mostly played Japanese video games, then got fascinated with the different nuances of other dialects and it kind of spiraled out of control. I now speak, read and write over a dozen languages.
Big fan of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, refuses to watch Power Rangers. I am stubborn that way.
First introduction to video games was Final Fantasy IV on the Super Famicom, that's Super Nintendo Entertainment System to the west.
First tabletop roleplaying game was Basic Dungeons & Dragons.
Forever GM for Dungeons & Dragons 3rd and 3.5 Editions, Pathfinder 1st and 2nd Editions, Call of Cthulhu, Jovian Chronicles.
I prefer western comic books to manga, leaned more towards DC Comics than Marvel, but dropped the hobby with the Marvel NOW! initiative.
Not a fan of the MCU or the DC CW shows.
