Need help with Ren'ai Phase 恋愛フェイズ

I have successfully installed the game, however even with AppLocale its showing dots instead of kanji in the message box.
Anyone knows how I can resolve this issue?

Works ok if I change the locale manually. So it seems like AppLocale is not working for this game properly. Are there any good alternatives?

What's wrong with having Japanese as your locale permanently?

Just some QoL issues. Like applications trying to guess the language from the locale Im using.
