I really enjoy seeing MCs with defined fashion styles in VNs. I think it's a nice way to learn more about their tastes and personality at the start of the game, and they look very cute in it!

In otome I believe Lolita fashion is the most common, with games like Princess Nightmare and Under the Moon. When I think of other styles, Mekutoki's Hidari dresses Jirai Kei I believe, and there's many characters who wear kimono as well, in the many historical games (Ken ga Kimi is among my favorites). The MC from Haitaka no Psychedelica has a "male lolita" look going on too.

There's some characters with interesting styles in BL games, but mostly LIs. Shiki from Togainu no Chi comes to mind immediately, as he dresses very Visual Kei. Omega Vampire's Keiichi also has a bit of a gothic/VKei style to him as well.

Do you enjoy any particular fashion styles in otome/BL? Is there one you'd like to see? What do you think about characters with defined fashion styles? I'd love to hear it!

When I'm playing games in general I personally like and focus more on men's clothing and fashion than women's; they're more stylish! I love those Chinese outfits like the one Yang from Piofiore wears; they're so beautiful and delicate, I think they give off a very refined and classy vibe, I don't know why XD

Now, one fashion style I'd love to see would be gothic/punk visuals, like the art style of Castlevania

something similar to Trinity Blood, like this

Azazel from Shingeki no Bahamut,

or something punk like this one Chika from Zombie Loan is wearing.

I hope that one day an otome game with a gothic theme and visuals will be developed!

I love gothic/visual-kei inspired styles! I can't really think of any in otome (although Danzai no Maria has some gothic style designs, and Amnesia's Shin is pretty visual kei, despite the interesting clothing choices in the game lol). Always a joy to see some edgier characters!
For BL, Togainu no Chi has both Shiki and Rin, and they have more traditional gothic & punk-ish clothing though.

(I think Shiki, on the left, looks very cool!)

Animamundi is not otome nor BL but the characters have a more historical gothic look to them as well.

I loved the visuals and went looking for the game's lore, and it also seems cool with this post-apocalyptic world premise; it reminded me of the manga Blame! and Gantz. It's a shame it's not available for Switch; I got interested in playing it because of the premise, and it could have been my first BL game :/

Yeah, there's not many BL games available for consoles since they usually have adult content :(
Togainu no Chi has a censored PSP edition (is called Togainu no Chi True Blood), so if you're familiar with emulation you could try running a PSP emulator on your phone (if you don't read Japanese, you could try an OCR tool or Google Lens for translation, or Meikidroid if you're interested in Japanese learning!)

The only ones with an English Switch release are Hashihime of The Old Book Town and the two The Town of Nie games I believe. I really like Hashihime, and I've heard good things about Nie, so if you're interested in BL you could take a look at them as well!

II cleaned up my phone's memory the other day (unfortunately I had to delete Lovebrush Chronicles because it was taking up a lot of space and I was barely playing it :/) and now I have plenty of space! Plus, I'm studying Japanese (I was even using Anki a little while ago XD) so I think downloading this game will be great (and finally being able to play a BL game for the first time!). I was even trying to play DiaLovers in Japanese but I ended up giving in to the English patch because it was too complicated and it hurt my wrist having to hold the Switch in one hand and the phone in the other to type the kanji I didn't know, not to mention it took too long to advance the chapters lol. This Meikidroid you suggested seems like a lifesaver, so I'll download the PSP version and use it to help with my studies! Thanks for the tips and suggestions!

Wow, I feel like I owe you so much! First you helped me with Taisho x Alice, then with the spoiler tag, and now this!

i'm all for goths, egl/ouji and vkei inspired outfits too! even the ones who undeniably got silly with it like amnesia lol. i want their personality/interests to shine through, if there's a piece of clothing or accessory with a special meaning that's even better, i think. and it's so cool when you notice an artist has a genuine love of fashion and incorporates it into their characters (he's washed up now ig but i've always enjoyed how kazuma kaneko did just that).

not otome but shtdn and 1bitheart are examples of games with character design and fun outfits i liked <3
