Is there a character that made you start playing a otome/bl, even if the genre isn't really your thing?

For me, it was Towa from Slow Damage.

I started that VN just because of him, even though it's not really my usual thing. But he... yeah, you get it. Totally worth it.

Idk if it counts since I've always been into BLVNS but ichinose from Hadaka Shitsuji? I honestly did not think Hadaka Shitsuji was a game meant for me (i don't mind uke torture lol but this was sincerely TOO MUCH), and playing it 100% confirmed it ..but I still really like ichinose and, if anything, it was an interesting experience!

If other genres count, I saw this girl from Ever Maiden (yuri nsfw novel) and went to play it, although I was never interested in yuri before.

I did enjoy the game, but it didn't make me to like the genre as a whole. Still, sometimes it's nice to see new things

If not fully text-based VNs are fine too, then it would probably be Yakumo from NU:Carnival. I admit, I don't really play much BL games (just haven't found much that caught my eye yet), but as I was scrolling, I saw Yakumo and immediately loved his design LOL. He's so cute!!

Sadly, I didn't stick with the game for very long, so I never got too far into the story. But honestly, I still had a lot of fun while it lasted~ I don't regret trying it out at all, and Yakumo remains one of those characters I remember fondly because of how adorable he is (●'∇')♪

Hmmm if you can turn off brain and just enjoy beautiful girls getting hot with each other in an intriguing and slightly creepy settting - then yes. If you are looking for good story - then no. Everything worked for nsfw-scenes, and not for plot, so characters' motivations and behaviour were a bit... questionable. Such an eye candy tho

the only one that comes to mind is mekutoki for me ! it was my first time playing an R18 otoge and i didnt know what to expect out of it since what drew me in was mainly the character designs and art (hidari left a ... strong impression lmao and i found it pretty how migi's purple scheme matched her pink tones) im glad i did though i really enjoyed the story just wished it was longer / more fleshed out
