You just gotta extract the .exe from the .rar into the game folder and start the game with that .exe file

Ah, well sadly did that and it failed, it gave me the same error as launching the normal .exe, so now I'm confused? You tried this yourself and it worked right?

Yeah, that's right. For me, it runs fine with the crack from the torrent.

well that's...annoying. to be on the safest of sides i downloaded the torrent, crack and all and i still get the same error. any ideas?

ok i got it! and it's a SUPER weird problem, basically...the game WON'T start unless it's located on the main drive (i had the game on my d: drive instead of my c: drive
