Fellow Drama CD fans: Do you listen to the cast talks?

In genres (mainly BL) where the cast recording together, those casual talk between the VAs often feels like a fun bonus. But for otomes where solo recordings are the norm, the cast talks sometimes feel like I'm getting a glimpse behind the curtain, and like I'm not really supposed to be hearing it. ( ᐛ )

Curious how everyone else feels!

I used to listen to them quite often, but not so much these days.
For some reason, cast talks tend to bring me back to reality, so I usually prefer to stay immersed in the story and characters.

It's not just cast talks, either. I don't completely avoid them, but I also don't watch many TV shows, radio programs, or streams featuring voice actors anymore.
For some reason, I've become more self-conscious about watching that kind of content as I've gotten older

That said, if I'm especially interested in the cast or if I really loved the work, I'll definitely check it out.
And when I do, I have to mentally prepare myself first

The only ones I've listened to are some of Yuki Kaji's from diabolik lovers' drama cds. I really like his performance as Kanato, what can I say lmao but other than that I don't really listen to cast talks...

The awkwardness of immediately picturing the VA instead of the character when you hear their voice is so real...
I remember hearing in Diabolik's cast talk (iirc Hirakawa-san?) that he bruised his arm trying to make *those* sounds repeatly, and it gives me mixed feelings even till nowadays lolol

perhaps I'm being cheeky, but it's like with singers or movie actors; I don't really care about what they're up to as people outside of their music/roles they played ... listening feels like sitting through a drawn-out speech at an event which i thought i could leave already

It must be really hard recording with a dummy head mic, so I hope they stay healthy and do their best

I like listening to the free talk sections on BL and otome drama CDs.

The voice actors sound very friendly and approachable when they talk. You can really tell how much effort and passion they put into their work. Their conversations are usually very relaxed, and sometimes they're really funny.

Some CDs also include questions for them to answer, which makes the free talk even more enjoyable to listen to (⁠｡⁠•̀⁠ᴗ⁠-⁠)⁠✧

That sounds really funny, but also I would think about that moment again and again whenever I relisten to the CD HAHA.

I enjoy behind the scene things, so I don't mind. Also, some times seiyuu's normal speaking voice is very different from the character they act for, so it helps mitigate the lost in immersion.

I'm usually so satisfied with the main feature that I rarely listen to the cast commentary. But I like listening to the cast interviews because it's refreshing and entertaining to hear the voice actors speak without acting.

Well... i've never really heard of a free talk section. Just listening to something like this is already kind of embarrassing, and then hearing the VA talk about their thoughts afterward?....

Since drama Cds are meant to make listeners feel immersed into the story, almost kind of like a self insert experience, and then we suppose to casually straight face after listened VA doing?/// .Hahaha, i really admire to the VAs because i feel like this job must be feel so... awkward;; (idk, money is money, i guess).

Honestly, i do want listen to their free talk too so i can get to know better about the VA behind the character. But i need to mentally prepare myself first before listening to it, yeah just like e_11 said. Its stupid and funny experience for me.....

I dont really mind if about free talk section actor from movie or game, but this one is... different

Lmao, real real. Glad doujin VA is keep so private and not have show up their face. No offense, but i dont really wanna see imagine it you doing *that* thing into my brain. Like Ono Yuuki or Nojima Kenji when i watch game live stream... Or more like veteran VA, Satou Takuya. Already know well about VA identity even feel more awkward, like i know what are you did in there before

Just when I'm drifting off, cast suddenly jumps in with the title call and there goes the immersion. www
And usually they seems so exhausted cuz AC has to be off during recording in booth for hours (to avoid any kind of background noises).

I feel bad for it but I usually keep those tracks out of playlists. ...except for the times I forget and get jump-scared all over again. (ﾟﾛﾟ*)

I actually really enjoy listening to cast talks. I'm always eager to hear the voice actors' insights into their own characters and the storyline. To deliver a performance that truly resonates, a voice actor needs a deep understanding of the overarching plot. From that perspective, listening to them is a great way for me to gain a fresh angle on the characters and the story.

I can look up some VA job descriptions if I'm really interested. But I often keep this to myself, because that makes the magic of acting work better for me
