are you using either the local emulator or changing all your regional settings into Japanese/Japan? otherwise the game wont start

I tried running the game myself as well (though I downloaded from FlowerTradeWinds)

Windows 10: game wouldn't launch [Locale set to Japanese while clock and system language weren't]
Japanese Windows 7 (VM): game launched

(So try setting clock and/or system language to Japanese as those are the 2 settings where my VM differed from my main system)

I was able to launch on a Windows 7 virtual machine but didn't do any testing beyond seeing the start menu successfully load (though this might not be useful if you're using Vista or older)

Locale emulator for all Atelier Kaguya games going forward, it is.

Edit: here's what's working for me. (Win11 64bit)

App Compatibility: Win8 + Locale Emulator: Run as Admin / Fake registry / Fake UI

Without configuring compatibility mode the app won't start with any combo of LE settings (crashdump inside install folder), quite strange.

Double clicking to run = app won't start but no crashdump (region check at play)
