    Some random questions...

Thanks for the correction, now that I say it out loud there is a long vowel there. Anyway - I understand the dictionary definition of the particles, but something is missing. Like, you know when you study something or listen to a lecture in class and you're like "I totally get this" and when...

    Some random questions...

1: Can anyone explain to me (in simple, practical terms) the difference in usage between the は and が particles? I thought I understood the gist of it, then I tried some practice exercises and completely bombed them - so now I'm totally confused. I'm using Tae Kim's Grammar guide, btw. 2...

Confirmation regarding a very simple reading

My guess would have been さ or ち, but it is written really oddly, so is わ. Not that I would know what it actually means though, and from the context what redmonster said makes the most sense.

I was wondering, a lot of people have mentioned it helped them to learn Japanese when they read VN's, which I assume means visual novels. Anyone know where I would be able to find some? Specifically ones with simple dialogue...

Self teaching vs Class with teacher. Learning Japanese.

Thanks guys, d/L'd anki and the kanji deck, along with the stroke order font they recc'd. Although I'm not sure how to implement the new font, whether I should install it into the anki directory or in a system directory. Although I have to finish memorizing my gana before I can read the kanji...

Self teaching vs Class with teacher. Learning Japanese.

Oh ok, yeah they weren't very clear on the exact usage of those characters so I kinda got the impression that it was optional. ありがと This is probably where it would help to have a teacher lol.

Self teaching vs Class with teacher. Learning Japanese.

Good to know mate, the site I'm using actually has the stroke order for each character as well as pronunciations and all kinds of other info. So I know that "sa" can be written with the hook underneath attached or unattached. ^.^ It also explains how to be able to type Japanese characters...

I'm currently trying to teach myself Japanese now, I just started with memorizinng Hiragana characters and their pronunciations. There is a place somewhat near me that gives Japanese lessons for a very reaonable cost, but I figure I should get the memorizing bit out of the way first. Once I...
