Mine couldn't either at first, seems to be due to some of characters in the folder name. Copy the contents to a new folder on your desktop and it will work, might want to simplify the install destination as well just in case.

The left choice is normal play, the right is easy mode where you basically select a route a get a ride to the ending but you cant see the bad endings and some of the side stuff this way. The thing on the bottom is for inputting some sort of code that frankly, I have no idea what it does...

Nope, the route changes nothing as far as choices are concerned. Just double checked it by speeding through the game, had no problems so I don't know what to tell you : /

I haven't seen any walkthroughs yet, but I'm not sure how you get stuck. I suppose it might have some dead ends if you make bad decisions earlier in the game like the ones where Retis enters the dreams of characters to influence the past, but haven't advanced a game with that sort of choice yet...
