If you had to choose a genre in otome games—comedy or drama—which one is your favorite, and why?

Although I've played both, my favorite by far is the drama genre—I enjoy the anguish it creates. Which one do you choose?

It's hard to pick between the two tbh. Maybe it might depends? I rather enjoy drama but I do suppose I enjoy comedy a lot more as long as they do not push the comedy to the point of corniness.. If I really have to pick, them it'll be comedy but in general I do cherish otome games that can do both.

I'd love it if the two elements were mixed together, but I'll go with comedy for this one. I want a sweet romance game that's fun and exciting to play!

Definitely drama. I love the delicious angstiness of it, and it creates higher stakes which makes it more interesting!! I love a good comedy every now and then when i need to turn my brain off, but drama is where the gooood stuff is, like yes CRY MORE 🤤
 
Drama is more likely because it includes things you can't predict, the kind of excitement you expect, or the critical situations between the characters in the end, which depend on how well the story is written

I prefer dramas as well. I think comedies always have limitations in creating humorous moments, while I believe dramas have a wider spectrum, ranging from ordinary slice-of-life stories to profound narratives.

I only choose comedy games when I'm in a bad mood, as a way to relax.

I mainly enjoy story-driven games, especially those with a puzzle or adventure/fantasy feel.

Good character design, a rich storyline, and excellent voice acting can immerse me in the game and make it surprisingly fun.

Looks like it's the drama genre for me. Strangely enough, I've never really found any comedy-focused otome games that suit my taste. Maybe I just haven't come across the right ones yet...🤔
 
Drama for sure. But what about drama with some comedy sprinkled in! Games that make me laugh every now and then I feel like hit me harder when the really dramatic stuff happens later.
 
Right now, I'd prefer comedies. I mostly read to relax and take my mind off things, but the plots in dramas often lead me to start worrying about the characters' problems as well XD

It also feels like fewer comedies are being released compared to dramas, so I'll choose to support them
 
Drama all the way! (〃▽〃) The angst, heavy backstories, and emotional moments make the romantic payoff feel so much more earned
 
definitely drama for me! 🥹💕 i love emotional stories, complicated relationships and a little bit of angst. especially when there's jealousy, obsession and morally questionable love interests involved 👀 but i do enjoy some comedy as a nice balance!
 
If I had to choose between the two, I'd prefer dramas. In my experience, dramas tend to have better storytelling capabilities than comedies. Although, I do enjoy when dramas utilize comedic elements too. Breaking up those tense, dramatic scenes with light hearted banter is very refreshing to see.😙
 
any depending on the mood of my day (lol) it really depends on the execution!!! I usually play something lighthearted when I wanna take my mind off of things & drama when I'm really bored

out of both they're not really my favorite genre anyhow 👀 so I'd honestly take neither or both
