Are you at a point where you keep downloading every new uploads that you don't even consume it?

I started off by consuming every single thing I downloaded right away, but nowadays I do just let it all pile up 😭😭 it gets a bit overwhelming now since I'm not even sure what I have downloaded on my PC so I'll have to sort through it soon so I don't run out of space ...^^'

this sounds pretty similar to me. i like downloading a lot of cds, but only the ones that catch my interest. i do plan to delete the ones i don't like, but for now, i'm still keeping them. maybe i'll delete them someday lol.

Yes, I've had this same problem since I started the drama cd hobby for like 4-6 years now and I've started to ignore my backlog too even if I paid for them. Then I have a WL on dlsite just in case some expensive cds go on sale in a few months or many years down the line and I still care enough to buy them so it's like years of old cds and djs.

I would've been fine with it if genAI didn't trash all consumer tech industry and now HDDs are expensive so I realize it might be a good time to stop collecting stuff but it's a challenge. I mean, what if the world ends and I lost the internet? Surely, I'll be glad to have all my downloaded content for entertainment, right?

I've started to buy more than I listen for sure. I've been trying to narrow it down via theme category - current favorite vs new contender so that if it isn't equal or better, I can throw it somewhere and move on. When I'm dealing with hundreds of works, I need to streamline the process lol. Right now I'm buying two yandere idol works by the same VA and figuring out which one is going to stay for the theme after a listen.

It has been over a month since I last listened to a CD I downloaded recently, too.
However, daily life is busy, and since interesting things keep coming out in the meantime, I don't have as much energy to listen as I used to. 😓

Haha I feel so called out by this! 🙋‍♀️ My 'To Listen' folder is growing at an alarming rate while my actual listening speed can't keep up at all. But hey, just having them saved on my hard drive gives me a weird sense of security, you know? lol

I'm realizing I might be a bit of an outlier here. I'm pretty picky and strict about what I actually download 🫠

Instead of giving in to fomo and hoarding stuff, I try to rein it in and only get something if it fits my specific criteria or I have an immediate interest after checking the product page.

I've been through something similar before, and I just quited it
Around 2024-25 many of sharings here was dead because of DMCA problem, most of them couldn't be shared anymore, I was then very anixous of losing those files. I downloaded almost everyone of it to save a copy and looking for if I could re-upload it
But then my real life became busy so I didn't have time to do so, I didn't even have time to login here everyday. When I came back, most of the rules are changed, re-uploading became not so welcome anymore. And you know, digital storage princing rockets every single day. So now I deleted most of them, only those I couldn't find anywhere else, or those I really loved are left. Buying more and more new dramas makes my storage problem being more serious too. So now I only saved the copy of the MP3s with SE and sharing the copies as a backup here
Maybe that's why people always say time and money would solve the problems lol

I'm the same way. I like collecting all kinds of resources—for example, if a game has an art book, a settings collection, a drama CD, etc., I want to find and collect them all. I've bought several otome games for the Switch, but honestly I still haven't finished a single one, yet I'm still thinking about buying new games.

Yea. I indeed do keep downloading too much that right now it is to the point where I am just downloading to keep up with new releases and storing them. I stop caring about the things I downloaded years ago. Mainly due to the time it takes to listen to or read them.

i think because I don't have much time in the day so i know beforehand not to just download everything! I'm also new, so it's a bit easier to control, as well as the fact that I'm a bit picky when it comes to CDs specifically. for example it if it's a VA i really like then I'll be tempted to listen to it, but if not i hold back^^ I can imagine in the future though.

Well yeah, I can relate. I think we all do that lol. I collect the cds ;-; Though I don't keep all of them, I definitely delete some.

I totally agree! There are so many works I want to listen to and voice actors I'm interested in that I keep downloading new ones, but unfortunately, I only have two ears Haha👂🎧, time is limited and it's hard to keep up with the release speed, so somehow I've ended up piling up a huge amount of work Is that a happy problem to have? lol🤣
