When did you start playing otome games?

Definitely during my teen years. I think I got an ad for the Voltage game - My Forged Wedding and I was like :0
 
I was 14, usually playing warcraft. And only when i saw my sister playing otome on pc. Surprise be because she don't like read.
 
Maybe 15 when I tried to play diabolik lovers and I didn't know how to use emulators lol
 
I started playing when I was in highschool. Usually I played online games like Ragnarok Online, but because school was too busy, I couldn't play online games anymore, so I switched to offline games, especially otome games.
 
i forgot when exactly. i think i tried an otome game a long time ago, but i didn't know it was called otome back then. i only played it for a while because i didn't really understand how it worked. years later, someone recommended another otome game to me, and i really liked it. that's how i got into otome games.

I started playing in middle school too. I was online all the time, so that's how I found a bunch of otome games. Honestly, it was kinda the best moments for me (:
 
Back when I was in elementary school, I had plenty of opportunities to play otome games on consoles like the Nintendo. It's a bit sad, though, that the number of releases in the otome genre seems to have dropped since then. T_T
 
Since I was like 12 😂 I started with Mystic Messenger! I didn't even know it was otome back then, I just thought "wow handsome guys texting me??" And since then, I never left this world!
 
It must have been around elementary school!
Back then, I was playing otome games on my PSP and DS.
Those are still such fond memories.
That was probably when I loved playing games the most.
 
I was 16 when I first started playing them^^ My English was pretty bad back then, so half the time I had no idea what was actually happening lol , I'd just understand like 30% of a scene and make up the rest in my head like "yeah yeah, this is definitely what he meant"


Now when I replay some of those games, I just laugh at the stuff I used to imagine ° Sometimes I even end up thinking my made-up version was better than what actually happened x)
 
ever since i found out they existed 😭😂 the moment i discovered otome games, it was already over for me. there was no going back (╥﹏╥) ♡
 
I started around 2018, only with mobile otome games before I got a laptop in 2020. I didn't play many VNs throughout 2020-2024, I only played a few BLVNs and games like Your Turn to Die. I got back into otomes in early 2025 though 🤗 I feel like a newbie still.

I don't really remember exactly when I started playing otome games but Amnesia: Memories was my first otome game too! 🥰
 
I've been playing otome games since around elementary school, but I was so young back then that I had no real sense I was playing otome games😓 The first one I knew for certain was an otome game was Queen Bee's Royal Chamber (well......I don't know why that was the first one I played either🫪
 
maybe 18? I played psp. My first game was hakuouki, and I don't know Japanese better than I do now, so I'm amazed at what I did. haha
 
i started around my second year of middle school. i used to play the Shall We Date series on my phone. Somehow it used to feel like i need to keep it a secret, so i used to hide them in an app folder behind other apps. it's silly to think of it now since nobody else had access to my phone. but it sure did feel like a new world had opened for me and down i go in the otome game rabbit hole ahaha.
