have you ever switched your main li to a character you didn't expect to like? was it in the same otome game or a different one?

I feel you! Something similar happened to me recently too, mine was a joseimuke game though
At first I was mainly attracted to the host type guy and the onee-san type guy(cross dress). As I read the story, there were also a bunch of other characters where I'd be like, "Hmm, this guy is kinda interesting too." But I still decided to focus on those two, in terms of Gacha and story.
Then, after playing the game for over two years, I realized I actually really enjoyed the dialogue from a character who wasn't my type at all. He'd say stuff like, "I should go to the gym this weekend. I feel like I might be eating a bit too much lately."
And I was just like, "Wait, why is it so cute when he randomly starts complaining about his health to himself?"
(Btw, he's 31, but he always acts like he's 40+ Like a fine wine)
Before I knew it, he had somehow become one of my LIs.
**I'm actually the type who separates my favorite characters into two categories: idol types and LI types.

The first one for me is probably Starry Sky in Summer; my main LI is Azusa. However, in the "After" version, Inukai's route really caught my attention lol. He graduated from a side character role and got his own route in the fandisk. I remember enjoying his route the most lol

A more recent one is probably Kimi ni Madoi, Kimi ni Oboreru. Ritsu was the first to catch my attention (damn, his voice actor is really good), but his route was locked, so I had to finish the other LIs first. When I played, Kyouya really hooked me lol

I'm not usually into the flirting/playboy type, but his contribution to the other LIs' routes is huge. You can see how bad he is in his own route tho, but I love the MC's personality there. I'll probably put Ritsu and Kyouya as my number one LIs in that game.

oh! this happen a lot to me. Because so many joseimuke games that have an update or new LI that used to be a support character and i ended up falling for them. Especially for Mystic Messenger, i love 707 soooooo much but at the end, my main LI is Saeran/Ray. Due to new main story that revealing Saeran, many players switch their LI lmao. but i still love the twins! hehe

Yeah, this actually happened to me when I played Love and Deepspace when it's still the OG 3. Rafayel caught my eye first and so basically he became my main li but oh wow when I switched to Xavier ever since I read his anecdotes and his interactions with the mc as the story goes by.

So yeah, Xavier is my main li now.

Maybe with Nil Admirari no Tenbin, where I went in expecting Hayato to end up as my favorite (I have a tendency to fall for poster boys and also, Yuki Kaji! omg!), but after finishing both games I realized that I like both Hayato and Rui equally. I just can't pick between them
Something similar happened when I played Tengoku Struggle, but I didn't set my sight on anyone. I thought that after the four routes I'd played, Yona would surely be my favorite, but then Goemon came in and cleared everyone lol

YES, absolutely! (⁀ᗢ⁀) ♡ Sometimes I start an otome game thinking one character will be my favorite, but then another guy completely steals my heart! I think it's so fun when a character you didn't expect to like ends up becoming your main. It makes discovering new routes even more exciting hehe (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
