A character who saves the world and sacrifices themselves, or a character who abandons the world for you alone?

That's a tough one. If the story comes along as "screw the corrupted society" I'd pick the 2nd option. On the other hand, e.g. when there's an asteroid on a collision course, I'd drop a tear and pick the 1st. But...
I will choose to save the world and him💪
I would definitely prefer your option the most!

Is this question....overshadowing Kaize fact ending B(eloved you) and Dorothy dark route S(hut out the world) and H(elpless Hapiness)? I always choose option 1 as heartbreaking as it maybe, but why choose if we can do both? so let's save the world together for the greatest happiness that's it.

I love both hehee. But I suppose the first one is my cup coz I love angst! Keep the onions coming!

2nd one for me!! First one is also endearing but I could easily find that trope outside of otome games, which makes it a bit boring to me.

Definitely the second one for me. It might be sad, but that kind of tragic devotion feels like the purest form of love.

Honestly, above all else, I prefer a protagonist who cares only about me—even if it means the world has to burn, no matter the cost. Most of my favorite characters have the kind of personality that would choose me over anything else.

Type 2 for sure. It's much more romantic (which seems to be the majority opinion)

The question reminds me a lot of the ending of Dragon Age: Origins if you romance certain characters.. (I chose option 2 then too)

For me, its the character who abandons the world for me 😆 I do enjoy self sacrifice when its the fmc is the one gone and the ml suffering 😭

Abandon the world for me, 100%! There are already too many superheroes out there anyway haha.

It's really hard for me to choose between these two options. I like both of them a lot. But when it comes to otome games, I'd probably prefer the second one. A character like that is so touching—instead of making choices based on reason, logic, or ethics, they selfishly rely on personal feelings to decide, choosing only you. It's hard not to be moved and fall for a character like that.
