What do you think about mobile otome games?Eg:Love And Deepspace, Mystic messenger etc.

I do like them but Mystic Messenger is probably the only one I finished (RIP sleep schedule). I did try the Ikemen series but tbh it was slow paced and waiting every day for tickets to unlock the chapters was not it :c

Of those, i have only played mystic messenger in middle school. I really enjoyed it, I think more mobile otome games should really take advantage of the device they are on (for phones, chat rooms and calling). Otherwise i guess that mobile aspect allows for convenience of use.

Mobile games are all so... ephemeral. By the time I heard of one, it's out of service, or in worst case, it's a gacha and I already play a game I'm buying stuff in it (about collecting dragons), I don't need a thousand more xD. I'd rather have the otome games on consoles.

Back when I was totally hooked on Mystic Messenger, I was getting only three hours of sleep a night but still felt weirdly energetic lol. (Honestly, it was only possible because I was so young...)

I really liked Mystic Messenger because it was quite an innovation at the time. Where it can be packaged in the form of a messenger and visual novel, even in terms of the story, Mystic Messenger is very good and also deep.

However, it's unfortunate that mobile otome games have always used microtransactions. Even games from the Voltage era, the Ikemen series, and others. From unlocking the story with diamonds, unlocking the story by purchasing certain benefits, unlimited phone calls, and now even access to card story through gacha and clothing too.

Mystic Messenger was so good. The mechanic, waking up in the middle of the night just to read a few chats. It was successful integrating itself in daily life and very smart too.It brings memories T_T Luciel..But other than that I don't know much about others.Love and deepspace was pretty popular but then something happened and it lost its popularity I guess. What do you think?Do you have any favourites you wanna share?
In that case, we're very much alike,
I really like Android games, but I prefer PC or console games. Besides Mystic Messenger, I've played Love Unholic, Ayakashi & Sweets, Ephemeral, etc.

It's great that it has it's reach into the mobile scene. It can be played whenever and wherever at the palm of your hands.

I generally try not to pick up mobile otome games anymore after having tried enough of them back in the day, since most of them have extremely predatory business models. I felt like you could end up paying more than the cost of a full console/PC otome game but not get your money's worth out of it; or you would be extremely time-gated on reading if you don't pay at all. I'd rather pay the price for a console/PC otome game and actually have the whole game available. It's unfortunate, since a lot of those mobile otome games look interesting, and I would play them if they weren't mobile and followed the predatory mobile business model lol.

I tried to play Mystic Messenger before, too, but I didn't get far, because I wasn't able to wake up in the middle of the night for chats/calls lol. I do have a soft spot for Love 365, since I played some of Voltage's otome games that are on there before they were merged into Love 365 e.g. Star-Crossed Myth. Admittedly, I also currently play Love and Deepspace, but I never would have picked it up in the first place if my friends hadn't baited me into it lol. Love and Deepspace is good, but it absolutely does adhere to the rule of mobile otome games being extremely predatory; well that, and it's run by an evil company that has a known history of being an evil company company that makes bad decisions even before LADS lol.

Disclaimer: I am a gacha game player outside of otome games, too, so I knowingly make bad decisions, and my opinion on games with predatory business models is probably a bit hypocritical lol. I can gacha, but I don't want gacha in my otome games!

I also don't like that a lot of mobile otome games tend to have self-insert type main characters, because I like main characters that are their own person. In any case, PC/console otome games are the best for me.

I generally don't play gacha/mobage in general, like at all for the past 5 years I think? I've only played one Gacha game in my life lol and The only Otome mobage one was Voltage's Who's the Liar : Uncover the Truth and tbh even if I play another one now, I'd prefer something more old-school like that compared to what we have today. Not a fan of how the system works to integrate the game into our daily routine (grind, limited energy system, reminders, socials, etc) as it can be hard to completely get off from (and especially can be overwhelming for me)......I'm just not the target market haha since I'm not into self-insert type of Yumejoshi Otome as well.....For me, Playing traditional VN Otome Game is more similar to reading Shoujo Manga? Like how you root the Heroine with certain Love Interest of your liking and see their development/growth together. I prefer the 2D Illustration aspect as well (not into detailed 3D as in LaDS) since I draw quite often myself. The UI, Overall Theme, Album & Gallery feature in Switch Otome Game are the best for me! Especially when you can see the Artbooks, Interviews, and the thought-process design-wise. For me, the "Pick it only when you feel like it" freedom in current Switch Otome Game is the one I'm treasuring the most <3

Mystic Messenger was engaging but also deeply unhealthy to play F2P. 😅Nowadays I'd much prefer to pay for a product once and have the freedom to play wherever and as slowly as needed.

Though most of the otome mobile games I encountered are all from kinda old days back then like Cybird, Mystic messenger... there are more but I just jumped fast forward to each another. I think they're all simple and fast-consuming for almost everyone as that what they are made for, ofc some having different path but for mobile players, we start from the simplest and then upgrade for later. Plots are being update consecutively and nonstop, especially most of them are contain gacha system. Kinda nice for people who wants to hang out here and there whenever they wants and not focus for a long time like the ones on Switch or different platforms. Still, the content is limited and if I want something more darkie twisted then I mobile is not the place where we dig in

The only mobile otome game I've played is Yume Oukoku to Nemureru 100 Nin no Ouji-sama. It's pretty different from Mystic Messenger since it's more of a puzzle game combined with a gacha system. I really enjoyed it, but eventually I started feeling pretty bad about how much money I was spending on the gacha, so I ended up dropping it... If I play another mobile otome game in the future, I think I'd prefer something without a gacha system.

i'll always have an insanely huge nostalgia for them. playing the old shall we date and voltage games were basically my stepping stones into actually getting into console otome.

i played LADS for a bit and while it's great to see an otome game break into the mainstream, everytime i see otome discourse, it always stems from them so 😭 😭 😭

Never got into mobile games. I was console all the way until recently which is now mostly switch and PC. I saw how predatory and grind heavy they are if you're not willing to pay money.

Mobile games are convenient, but it's sad how fast they shut down. That's why I mostly stick to console or PC games nowadays
