Mostly the 2nd option whenever I feel like relaxing, but it's always been a mix of everything, I don't really think about it tbh. I've even listened to R18 audios when I'm doing housework like washing the dishes or cleaning my front yard lol.

i don't think i can focus when i multitask during a voiced audio? i usually blend out the voice when im working on something else. but when i'm listening to drama cds, i might need to read over the subtitles. it does not help when the drama cd includes a white pdf to read and i get flash banged late at night!

For me, I listen drama cd while I am absorbing Manga or Manhwa scrolling in my phone. Since, I could understand Japanese so I don't have to used translator. Usually, I look and scroll other drama cd while listening too. Sometime, I just slept with it while its playing when I am sleeping.

I mainly listen right before bedtime, so when there is low light. But I also continue listening to them once I turn off the lights and lie down to prepare to sleep, hence why most of the time I need to re-listen where I last stopped before I fell asleep
I can only listen during multitasking for non r18 scenes, if not it will be hard to immerse haha

i tend to listen to them while doing other things. every time i turn one on at night i end up falling asleep within 10 minutes and then waking up in the middle of the night being like "damn i fell asleep while listening to this again, 3rd times the charm right?" and going back to sleep thinking about listening to it during the day.
sometimes i do sit and focus on it without doing anything in order to really understand whats going on, but usually they get played while im doing something else.

I prefer darkness with closed eyes so I can understand the japanese meaning better. Although sometimes I fall asleep in the middle of listening.

Team Multitasker being #1 is actually shocking to me 😂 How do you guys do that?? If I'm doing something else in the background, I feel like I wouldn't be able to get immersed at all. And it's an R18 CD too 😂 I feel like those are the CDs where I need to be fully focused lol

I was also surprised by the voting results, just like you 😂

My room doesn't have to be pitch black but I do close my eyes to focus on the story. I also don't have to lay down but I get tired easily so I mostly lay down too. I don't really multitask tho bc I'll get distracted and have to rewind/replay the track otherwise TT Even though I can stay focus easily on the real plot, when they got to the spicy part especially if the spicy part is long I'll get sleepy and often fall asleep on the spicy part lol. Tho if the real plot is also long I'll get sleepy too, it's hard to stay focus fr. That's why I like cds with great plot twists bc they made me stay awake and focus lol

Thanks for finding this topic interesting! 🥰
Same here. But I don't own that many drama CDs that have manga adaptations, so I haven't really experienced the feeling of listening to the audio while reading the manga.
Oh my gosh then if you dont mind me recommending you stuff, try out this work, the CV is Sen Yagami and his voice is just *chefs kiss* and the manga art is top-tier!

Thank you so much for the suggestion! 😊 I'm really eager to listen to the audio you recommended—Yagami Sen is one of my favorite voice actors, too—but unfortunately, I don't currently have access to the otome voice threads on the forum. 🥲 And I live in Germany so I can't access to DLsite either 😭 But I will definitely hear this work when I have chance 🥰

It's okay. I will search on Google the manga you recommended. I use kagane website pretty much too 😊

Honestly, it really depends on the vibe you're going for. Some people like the full darkness & closed eyes approach lying down, lights off, headphones on, just letting the voice acting wash over them like a movie in their head. It's super immersive, almost like you're stepping into the scene yourself.

Others lean toward multitasking cooking, cleaning, gaming, or scrolling while listening. It's more casual, like background music, but you still catch the emotional beats.

I've seen fans say they switch depending on the CD: if it's heavy on atmosphere and sound effects, they go full "eyes closed, no distractions." If it's lighter or more comedic, multitasking feels fine.

So really, it's about mood. If you want to savor every detail, go dark-room mode. If you just want company while doing stuff, multitasking works.

Do you usually lean more toward the immersive side or the casual side when you listen?
