Sorry, has anyone managed to run this game successfully? It doesn't seem to work for me.

For me it runs without problems.
Does it not start at all for you? If so, do you maybe see an error when trying to launch it or anything else that could help troubleshoot?

---

Edit:
I poked around a bit and found a thread on steam where a user mentioned the game also not starting for them.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/648590/discussions/0/1743358239829751906

According to that, what you could try is making the game start in windowed mode instead of fullscreen borderless by changing the config file:

Under C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\My Games\ there should be a folder beginning with "428" followed by gibberish characters.

Inside that folder there should be a file named GameUserSettings.cfg.

Open it with notepad and try changing

FULLSCREENMODE=2
to
FULLSCREENMODE=0

then save the file and try to start the game again.

Sorry for the late reply! I tried changing FULLSCREENMODE=2 to FULLSCREENMODE=0, but unfortunately I still can't get the game to run.

First, I get this error:

"The program can't start because d3dx9_43.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

After that, I get another error:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."

So unfortunately, I still can't launch the game. 😭

The thread you found, as far as I can see, seems to be about people complaining about the garbled folder name under \Documents\My Games\ and issues with onedrive it produces. The mojibake in the folder name itself seems to be "normal", at least according to the staff. The game should start nevertheless.

The first error you are seeing means you are probably missing some old Direct X component. The second one could then be the actual crash of the game itself because of that.

You can try installing the Direct X legacy runtime from the official page and see if that maybe fixes both errors.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

Afterwards reboot your machine and try launching the game again.

Just to check, you are running Windows 10/11?

I'm on Windows 11. I tried installing the DirectX Legacy Runtime as suggested, but unfortunately, it still doesn't work. The game window pops up briefly with a completely white screen, and then it crashes and closes.

Damn, I hoped this would have fixed it... Does it still show any errors when it crashes or are they gone now? And does this also happen with FULLSCREENMODE=0?

No, there aren't any error messages anymore. The game window just pops up briefly with a completely white screen, then crashes and closes by itself.

And yes, it happens the same way with FULLSCREENMODE=0 as well. I've tried both fullscreen and windowed mode, but unfortunately there's no difference.

Okay, no error message means we are at least a step further.

I found a post of someone reporting the same behavior you are now seeing, the game briefly opening with a white screen and immediately closing again.
https://note.com/tanak_memo/n/n972ad7e65a57

They traced it down to their intel graphics drivers, specifically to versions older than 31.0.101.5379 (released in March 21, 2024) which can apparently crash some programs that contain non-english characters in related files, like the executable. Updating their graphics driver was what fixed it for them.

So if you are by any chance using intel integrated graphics, check whether your driver version is older than 31.0.101.5379. If that's the case updating them should hopefully fix it for you too.

How you can check your installed driver version:
Press Win + R
Type dxdiag and press enter
Switch to the Display tab
On the right side in the Drivers section there should be your installed version number (for me it is in the second row from the top)

I've seen a few similar issues as well. I've already updated my graphics driver, and I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070, but unfortunately, it still didn't work for me. 😢

Still, thank you so much for continuing to look for solutions and trying to help me! I really appreciate it. ❤️

You're welcome. I really wanted you to be able to play the game, but sadly I am running out of ideas and also can't find anything else that could help.
So for now it seems I have to admit defeat.
If you ever find a solution to get it running, let me know. I'd be interested.

If you still want to play the game nonetheless, you could try the Wii ROM with an emulator (I can recommend Dolphin).

Here are two sites that have the game (I couldn't find working links on anime-sharing):
