First Run in Otome Games: With or Without a Walkthrough?

I usually check first if the first playthrough has any character route restrictions,
and which routes are full of twists and drama versus those that are more even-paced.
For games with a huge number of bad endings, I usually check the detailed route guides too.
If it's an otome SLG, I check all the stat requirements and key conditions beforehand,
so I don't spend ages only to end up with a "nothing achieved" ending.
Otherwise, failing a route can be really frustrating…

First run for every route is always blind for me - I like trying to figure out which choices will lead to a good end based on where I feel the narrative is trying to go

Oh...... I can't play games without a guide. It's the same for other genres. There are more people with a strong sense of adventure than I thought! I'm jealous! I'm thinking of trying to play without a guide sometime too😊

Without a walkthrough, at least for my first playthrough. I like experiencing the story naturally and making my own choices without knowing what's going to happen. If I want to unlock all the endings or routes afterward, then I'll probably use a walkthrough

Without, I'll always try but after a couple of run , not save scumming or getting on to the wrong route. The walkthrough comes out XD

Walkthrough always. I want to finish the games quicker. Sometimes the choices aren't always intuitive when playing blind.

it depends on the game, if they have too many choices, then i'm going with my gut. If they don't, then i use a walkthrough so that i can finish the game faster

It depends on how I'm feeling that day. If I'm in mood, I'll play blind, if not follow a walkthrough to get full ending quickly. As for games known to be tough from the start, following walkthrough is always the right call.

I usually go in blind on my first playthrough — I don't use guides — unless the game has some stat-check mechanics that make it tough to get through otherwise

Depends, if reviews say that the game is punishing, then I play with a guide from the start, if not, then without one. I don't mind a bad ending, I just don't want to be dying at every choice that I do.

I won't check guides right away; I prefer exploring on my own. Unless the game's mechanics are pretty complex, then I might selectively check to make sure I collect everything.

i will always rely on a walkthrough whenever i play a game since i don't have much free time:')

I'm not a fan of bad endings, so I play while looking at a walkthrough.

I like to try on my own first and see what I get. It's more fun when I don't know which is the "right" answer to get the ending I want. If I still can't get the ending, I use a walkthrough out of frustration.

When you start a new otome game, do you use a walkthrough right away?
Personally, I've always liked playing without a walkthrough on my first run. That way, the story feels more intriguing to me. Then I try to get as many endings as I can on my own, and then I use a walkthrough.
I like to play without a walkthrough or else I can't focus on the story trying to get a certain ending

I usually don't use guides; I prefer to choose based on my own preferences to see which ending I'll get. Then I'll refer to a guide while playing.
