What got you into Otome drama CDs?

im got introduced to drama cd back then because of rejet especially diabolik lovers, when i saw the cast... i see how most of dialovers cast back then also active in blcd which is my first exposure to drama cd long before i got into otome years later, try it and somehow i can enjoy it more than i expect, thats how i get into drama cd hell in the first place

For me, it started with otome games that came with Drama CDs, as well as manga series that had Drama CD adaptations! I really enjoyed the characters and their voices, so naturally, I ended up following the voice actors too. 😂

From there, it was kind of a rabbit hole. I started looking for other Drama CDs featuring voice actors I liked, then discovered different kinds of audio works, character songs, ASMR, and eventually even more niche titles. Once I got into it, there was no turning back. 😂💗

I think what I love most about Drama CDs is how they can make you feel much closer to the characters. Sometimes they add little moments and character interactions that you wouldn't get in the main game or manga, which makes them especially fun for me!

One day I accidentally clicked on a DLsite ad while messing around on picrew and the rest is history.
I had already liked otome games since middle school, so that part made sense to me. The crazy thing was that I'd always found asmr to be Cringey, so I was absolutely flabbergasted when I first listened to the samples and enjoyed it.

My guess is that I just don't like asmr in English. The Japanese VA's always put so much effort into their works too, so it's hard not to enjoy them.

In my case, I started by listening to roleplay ASMR on YouTube, mostly in English. Then YouTube started recommending me similar content in Japanese and Korean, and eventually I came across some drama CD previews. I didn't even know what they were at the time, but I got curious and started looking for more. From there I moved on to SoundCloud, then Telegram, and well… here I am now lol. 😂

So you know that feeling when you just finished an otome game that you absolutely love you cant get it off your mind that you'd even replay some routes. If I cant get an otome game off my mind but not want to waste time replaying it then I realized I could opt for listening to drama cds!
 
I don't even remember how I got from anime to Drama CDs anymore, but I think the very first one I listened to was Dear Vocalist. Rejet was huge back then.
 
I got into them through listening to ASMR videos on YouTube too!
I used to listen to them when I was going to sleep, but one day I got really into ear-licking ASMR and started thinking, "Hmm, I wonder what other kinds of videos are out there 🤔?" So I went searching for all sorts of things, and eventually ended up discovering the otome genre lol.
I like both mature-rated and wholesome ones!
 
Started out searching BL/otome games from DLsite...then i made a mistake of checking a sample of drama cd😌 Then i'm hooked
 
Like many people here, I also started with otome games. Then I became interested in seiyuu. Drama CDs give a whole hour to listen to that seiyuu's voice. What an amazing invention
 
I've always been a huge voice fan, and I love watching voice actors at events. But I feel like professional voice actors and doujin voice actors tend to work in pretty different genres and cater to very different audiences.

One day, I randomly clicked on a work by a doujin voice actor. (It was actually a pirated upload, lol.) I was instantly captivated by his voice. After digging around a bit, I discovered one of the sites where you can buy these kinds of works, and that's how I started getting into them!

For the first few years, I pretty much only bought works by that one voice actor. Eventually, though, I started trying works by other voice actors, and before I knew it, I had fallen for their voices too!

So now I guess I'm a very unfaithful woman when it comes to voice actors, haha.
