For EVNs, Valentyne Stories: Necromancy.
Beautiful art, cool setting, likable cast but it's been abandoned. The devs did say they might come back to it someday, so...
For JVNs, Kase no Shiro.
I'm a sucker for this type of fantasy Western setting and the art is appealing for its time. Dev's previous game was good too.
Not a game, but translation project: Re;quartz Reido.
It's a case of a great game having the worst luck: at first loc company went MIA. Then it came back and promised to finish the project...only to dissolve soon after. I wish somebody else picked it up for translation...

I mourn Yandere town everyday, apparently it's not officially on hiatus but there had been no updates for so long. As a big Male Yandere lover it was my dream otome game come true. I just hope the artist working on it is just really busy but hasn't dropped it unofficially.

First up, I didn't know about several of the games mentioned - Fantastics*Trans, & CAGE -remake-, specifically. Also, didn't know anything about Yandare Town, so now I'm extremely depressed about that, it looked so gorgeous.
Also, shout out to yukari13 who mentioned Re;quartz Reido. I remember when that was announced, it was so very exciting. I desperately wanted a localization, and then.... poof. Up in smoke, like the company that promised it.
Anyway, a few other BL titles that I will probably always be a little broken up about:
1st Degree
Development started in 2017. There's a gorgeous demo available on Itch.io, and this game honestly looked like it was RIGHT up my alley. But things went radio silent around 2020, and then there was an announcement stating the game was cancelled as of 2026, and they started doing partial refunds. They have a note stating they're looking for a new studio to take it over, but... who knows.
DeeVer
Was the next game in development by Herculion - one of the split-off groups from Black Monkey Pro, and the ones who brought us Full Service. Last known update was back in 2023, I think. Likely gone for good.
Sakura Tempest
Development started in 2018, 2019, maybe? There's a note on the Itch.io page saying that the beta version is for backers and the trial version will be released soon, but as far as I know, the last update was years ago. Which is a shame, because the art remains gorgeous.
And one that isn't at that point yet, but I'm getting progresively more nervous about...
Touchstarved
This game has been in development for a few years. PV is so gorgeous. It was supposed to release sometime this year, but the status for release went from "2026" to "To be announced" so I'm a little concerned. I'm crossing my fingers that it's only a delay and not the beginning of the end.

Hey, good news about Touchstarved! You might've seen it already too but they announced on twt the release date will be in Spring 2027, really hope everything goes well! A friend of mine and I have been looking forward to this game for years as well

I'll keep my fingers crossed and wait patiently for another year. It was just very disheartening to see the release day disappear when I was very much hoping to buy and play it. Thanks for the update!
