I try not to take breaks, but if i did- 100% restart... I can't afford to jeopardize my game experience by not remembering the plot!! But i have bad memory issues, so maybe I'm biased?
 
honestly, routes are really long so if i had to restart from the common route since i came back from a long break, i would 100 percent be likely to be annoyed, but if i have a save from the beginning of the route i'm currently on, i'd replay that to where i was originally at
 
I think I'd start over from the beginning. Rather than trying to piece things together based on hazy memories, I feel it would be more rewarding to play through it again with a fresh perspective. I might even make new discoveries or notice things I missed during my previous playthrough!

I'd start over from the beginning in case there's something I forgot... is what I would say if I had all of the free time in the world, but I don't. I'm about to pick up Cupid Parasite again after almost 2 years when the pc port drops, but I'll just skip it right to the middle of Shelby's route where I last left it on.
 
If I still remember the storyline, then i'll probably continue from where I left off. But if I forgot about them, then i'll restart! Though it's great to play the game again as if I first played it ^^

It's very situational, I personally would start over only if I like the route. Otherwise if i found the route hard to like I rather just continue where i left off and try to remember the details.

But really, I think starting over is not a waste of time especially when I'm starting to have less otomes to play. In that case I'd rather take my time and read every lines.
 
Definitely continue from where you left off! Restarting from scratch sounds nice in theory, but in practice, you risk losing all your motivation before you even get to the unread content.
Since you already cleared 2 routes, just pick a new character and dive right in. The game usually gives you enough context clues to refresh your memory anyway!
 
This has been a common dilemma for me the past years since I get too busy with irl responsibilities that I just completely forget to finish a route 😭
Maybe it's just me and my goldfish memory but I just start the game from the beginning so that I can refresh my memory about everything that happened. I like hunting for those little details that games may hint or foreshadow during the common route about the MLs (or about the world if the narrative is lore heavy) so it's not much of a hassle for me. Plus, I love to experience everything all over again especially if it's a game I enjoy!
 
I would restart... my memory is not that good... I would suffer trying to remember all the plot key points... That's why I have games on-hold for more than 10 years... because I'm too lazy to restart them from 0 again XD
 
As regrettable as it is, I need to restart again because I'm unable to recall or immerse story that I'd played for long.
 
well, if i already forgot the plot, then i would restart bc i don't like to continue where i left off i have no idea what's happening to the story. however, if i can still remember the story, then i would pick up where i left off.
 
I might pick up where I left off if I still remember most of the plot but I'd rather start from the beginning tbh. I feel like I won't be able to enjoy the game as much if I don't start from the beginning.
 
I would rather start from the beginning. I just do not like the feeling of continuing on with my terrible memory LOL It's also an immersion issue for me, I find that I have a lot of trouble getting back into a setting if I don't start from scratch, unfortunately.
 
I think it probably depends on the game/ route for me? If I restart, it's mostly because I want to refresh myself on the context and get re-immersed in the story again.

If a route is tedious though, I'll usually just continue from my last save of that (・・;;
 
Generally speaking I guess I won't play such game again...but if I do so then I will start from very beginning, believe myself that will read the script thoroughly, then lost patience, start to skip, choose wrong option, forget to sl, read again, find something interesting, lost patience again quickly, start to skip....not interesting at all (Ｔ▽Ｔ)
