Do you read reviews? What's important to you in a review?

I usually start by reading reviews; what people say is one of the factors that helps me decide whether to play a game or not. Sometimes, a game's art style or the premise outlined in the description might not appeal to me, but reading the reviews gives me a rough idea of whether the storyline contains elements I'd enjoy; if it does, I'll try to play it. Also, some reviews include personal impressions or insights into the game's content; discovering what others find interesting—or uninteresting—can sometimes spark my own curiosity and make me want to give it a try.

Generally, I don't read reviews before starting a game, aside from seeing posts that mention them.
However, I love reading reviews after finishing the routes that interested me. It gives me a broader perspective on the game by understanding others' views, and can even make me want to play additional routes if something piqued my curiosity—though, unfortunately, that does mean encountering spoilers in those cases X)

I do read reviews, but I try to avoid ones with too many spoilers. 😂 I mostly want to know what people thought of the characters, story and overall experience rather than a detailed summary of the plot.

I also really appreciate when people mention things like the route order or whether there are any content warnings. It makes deciding whether a game is for me much easier.

If it's a game I was really interested in when I was following the news about it,
I won't look at people's thoughts beforehand.
I want to go into it with as blank a mind as possible.

After finishing the game, going through a ton of people's thoughts and seeing the same nitpicks,
shared feelings, sadness, and excitement is such a ridiculously happy experience!

Seeing perspectives that are completely different from mine,
but with ideas that are really interesting or worth thinking about, is also a really cool feeling.

If it's a game I'm not sure I'll find interesting,
I'll usually check out blogs from people whose tastes line up really well with mine,
especially when it comes to the things I personally care about, and then decide from there.

Yes indeed! I try to avoid the ones with spoiler before playing the games, but I check if people that had liked similar types of game that I do enjoyed it, or their thoughts on different elements of the game.
As someone who talks and thinks a lot, I love reading reviews that includes the op's interpretation and understanding of plots and characters. Most of the time, it helps me understand different perspectives and like the game itself even more!!

I do read reviews. Whether they have spoilers or are spoiler-free, I read both. Reading reviews makes me understand the gist of the game, what to look forward to, and what kind of LIs there are. Sometimes I don't want to waste my time if the game is too generic or the plot is not to my taste.

I prefer reading reviews and then decide whether I should play the game or not.

Yes, I sometimes read reviews, but I don't really care about the overall rating. I mostly read them to see what other people have to say about the game. Sometimes they mention things that aren't really mentioned in the official description, like certain content or types of LIs. Even if someone didn't like the game, they might mention something that makes me go "oh, I actually like that." And sometimes it's the other way around too. A positive review can mention something that makes me realize the game probably isn't for me.
And I also want them to have spoilers, as long as they're properly tagged so I can skip them when I don't want to see any.

I often decide whether to buy a game after reading reviews.
I don't really mind spoilers.
However, rather than reading detailed opinions, I mostly look at whether the overall reviews are positive or negative.
If a lot of people give it good reviews, it definitely makes me much more interested in buying it.

I usually look at the negative reviews first. Sometimes the things other people complain about actually turn out to be exactly the kind of elements I enjoy.

Sometimes, but only the non-spoiler ones. There are a few otome/visual novel reviewers with tastes similar to mine, so if I'm interested in a game, I tend to check their rating and overall thoughts, since there's a higer chance I'll feel the same way. I also appreciate it when they include the recommended route order and mention potentially triggering content, as well as giving their take on how heavy the topics are.

Well its up to what kinda work is it. Because i give money, even with little spoilers i wanna know what am i going to buy. But if im sure its the theme i would like i dont read much reviews. But im usually a spoiler free review reader (❁´◡`❁)

Usually I never read reviews before and after playing any game. Because I'm easily influenced. If the review is negative, I start believing the game is bad and ultimately don't play it. If the review is positive, I start believing the game is a masterpiece, so I have inflated expectations that are usually not met. In either case, I lose. So I prefer to play the game myself and form my own opinion.

I tend to read reviews when I need that extra little push to actually start playing a game.
For games I'm already raring to play, I'll jump right in on my own initiative; but for titles where I'm on the fence—wondering if they're right for me—I sometimes check out what others have said before making a decision.

I rarely see it, like VERY rarely. I like to experience things as blindly as possible; once I've finished the game, I usually go read up on it—especially about the characters. I do like having a space to talk about the game and the characters—sharing experiences is interesting—but only after I've actually finished the game.

I usually check reviews before starting a game, but I try not to take them too seriously since everyone has different tastes. I like seeing what the reviewer liked or disliked, though, because it helps me figure out whether those things would bother me too. I also really appreciate spoiler-free reviews and recommended route orders. If I've already decided to play the game, I'll usually just look up the route order and save the reviews for after I finish lol.
