What do you think of 3D Otome games

from what i have seen it can be really good and pretty to have 3D in otome games especially high quality ones , i do prefer 2D but just because my favorites otoge are in 2D
 
My preferences lean towards anime-esque 2D graphics but as long as the cast of characters are fun and the premise is interesting, I'm willing to at least give a game a shot. The visuals of a visual novel are a core component but so is the novel aspect. I've been pleasantly surprised by some indie works with a more western 2D artstyle in the past because of the writing.
My only major concern about 3D otomes currently is that beyond Silent Whispers which is backed by the company who made Life Makeover, none of the other Love & Deepspace copycats that were teased several months ago have teams with a games industry background and aren't interested in even making an otome game. They want to make chatbot companions that take advantage of the loneliness epidemic and just AI-generate characters that look like Sylus and others from Love & Deepspace because people already have existing attachment to said characters. It's less about the artstyle at that point, they are bad because it is slop with no real creative direction.
 
I found LaDS pretty unusual game at first. Now it's pretty hard to play game because of the way it was decided to change the course of handling the game
So I am looking forward to mote 3D otome games.
I am definitely going to play Toraware no Palm.
But I would prefer for models to not be too realistic, i find this too creepy. I am playing games to enjoy the fantasy, not to see real men there too
 
The quality of 3D character models in otome games really comes down to the development team's sense of aesthetics...
I like characters to move in a way that feels natural and expressive,
but a lot of the character interactions in games on the market right now have this really greasy,
overly performative feel to them...
I just don't like that kind of try-hard, fake seductive vibe.

I agree with you, the main issue I have with 3D games right now is that they're all live services with micro transactions. The art is fine - I liked the character models in lads, but I ended up dropping it because the whole game model just annoys me over time.
The only 3D otome that will release as a full game that I can think of is A Courting of Curses, but I think there's only the info page out for that one, with no release date yet, so we'll see.

I also tried lads because I thought the art style looked good and unique, but I dropped it after a while. Aside from all the live service with microtransactions thing, the way they told the story was confusing to me. It was also almost stressful to play because I wanted to catch up as quickly as possible with a large amount of content before the game leaves me in the dust again... I just didn't enjoy it enough to keep playing it for as long as it takes to enjoy the story. I really wish we had an otome game with the art style and cutscenes of lads that isn't stressful to play because of the live service model.

I think 3D otome games have a lot of potential, but they're much harder to develop well than traditional 2D ones. G[COLOR=rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.87)]ood character writing and story quality are still more important to me than graphics.[/COLOR]
