I like that an otome game lets you choose your own name to start with and assume the role of the MC, implying "that it's us." It's a good feature to implement when playing, making you feel like you're part of the world and experiencing the game's story.
—When dealing with MC characters whose design isn't defined or isn't visible from the player's perspective (except for the design seen in a few CGSs), I usually leave it with my own name, playing as the MC to connect with the game.
—But when I see that the MC has a predefined appearance for the entire story, like a default name that you can change at the beginning, I prefer to leave it as is, respecting the character's characteristics and finding them to be a "unique" MC.
