Do You Like Similar Characters or a Variety of Types?

The characters I like vary a lot in terms of appearance and personality, but I often find myself drawn to characters who have a dark past, mysterious characters, characters who look good in purple, or characters with a certain allure.

I'm also really fascinated by characters whose appearance and personality are unexpectedly different from each other, and I love the way that contrast is portrayed.

It happens pretty often that I end up liking characters who initially gave me a terrible impression after learning about their painful pasts.
I feel like my tastes have become broader as I've gotten older.

I tend to like characters of the same type, but every now and then there are exceptions—for example, Tsukimori Len is one of the more unique characters I like.

I feel like my taste has narrowed as I've gotten older. I started liking mysterious characters but ended up falling for awkward, nerdy guys...

I tend to go for similar charcters across all otomes. However I do also like charcters out of my normal criteria but that happens very rarely ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

I'm usually drawn to mature-looking characters with black hair.
But a character's personality and story usually end up winning me over, so by the end of the game, my favorite is often someone completely different from my usual type.

Mostly similar characters since there are certain troupes I like, so those characters usually ending up being my faves. But I also like a variety of characters if they are well written and charming in their own ways. It's always a nice surprise when I end up loving a character I initially wasn't interested in or didn't think I'd like. I almost always complete every route, only skipping routes I absolutely can't force myself to do, so I give every character a chance.

Usually, I'm drawn to a certain type of character like The Grand Duke of The North type. However, if the male lead has a unique charm different from the usual archetype, I will grow to like him too.

I like characters that are similar to one another.
However, there are also times when I come to like a character after playing the game, even if they didn't appeal to me at first glance.

I think it may depend on whether the game's storyline and setting are well crafted for character development, and whether they appeal to me. If the storyline and character design of the game pique my interest, I usually choose to play it regardless of the type of male lead.

I like characters whose appearance and personality are in contrast:

For example, dressing up brightly and fashionable is actually a little introverted and wants to attract the attention and likes of others.

And inconspicuous appearance, not good at words, low-key, low sense of existence, private, popular live broadcast host, professional master, etc.

Those with good appearance and shape do attract players, and I value the inner more.

Same!! I used to love cold and stoic kuuderes but now I want a blushy awkward loser who doesnt know how to talk to girls 😭

I also think that as I get older and my mind becomes more mature, I'm able to understand all kinds of characters, discover the beauty in different personalities, and thus come to love a wide variety of uniquely distinctive characters.

Each character type has it attracting type I think, and sometimes the most attractive part is that love changed what character usually does (which is the most delicious part) 😊

Looking back, I do think the characters I end up liking often have certain things in common. That said, my favorite character isn't always the type I'd expect. More often than not, the story completely wins me over, and I end up falling for someone I never saw coming. There have been plenty of times when a character didn't catch my attention at first, but as I played through their route and discovered new sides of them, they eventually became my favorite.

I'm generally drawn to similar characters. My preference are those with a certain gap moe, so tsunderes and kuuderes are my favorites. Its so cute to see their 'dere' side when they fall in love. Not all tsundere or kuuderes work for me but more often than not their routes end up as one of my favorites.

When I like characters outside of my type, its usually because they have a good story or they have a mysterious side (cough Ankou from Virche Evermore and Asagi from Ayakashi gohan). Sometimes, it's because they yearn well and that yearning draws me in XD. Othertimes, their personality is so unique and/or crazy that I grow to love them as I play their route.

I like certain type of characters, but I also tend to like different types. It is always unexpected, probably it depends on the writing of this character. So I really like to try to get to know different types of LIs. Maybe one day I would find my new favourite type of characters

I like being open to a different variety of characters but i always do end up gravitating to certain archtypes without meaning to. I have a soft spot for the flirty characters who have a hidden/deeper/more serious side to them. Though it is a running joke among my friends that I will always end up liking the white haired characters the most.

Before I play a game, I do tend to base my choice on my preferences. But, if another character catches my eye more, I have no problem choosing them first.

I'd say I'm biased towards certain tropes, but I don't have strong preferences for the character design. My favorite characters often share personality traits, not looks ;b though it's always nice when his looks are to my tastes

Even regarding the tropes/personality, it's not set in stone. The game setting and how well the route is written will actually dictate my favorite LI more often than those points ;)

While some tropes I like less than others, I'm open to pretty much anything as long as they are interesting. For physical traits, I have a preference for fluffy red, blonde or brown hair in my LIs. Perfect for headpats.
