Do you track how long you play a game? If so, how do you do it?

I am using ManicTime, it doesn't count time if you not in active window of the game (that's good)! But in that case I'm trying to avoid such times when I go away with game in active window, ahaha~

Usually I always wait until the end of voice lines. But I'm skipping H-scenes (or fastforwarding them, i.e not listen voice to the end), with some exclusions if I reeeally want to read them or I'm interested.

I've never felt the need to keep track of my progress.
I just play when I feel like it.

I haven't kept a record of it. I never really gave it much thought.
I see there are various ways to keep track of things! :giggle:

I run otomes on ryujinx a lot, which has a playtime timer, but it gets a little embarrassing when you realise you've been playing an otome for upwards of 6 hours a day.

I track my playtime for switch games bc I have parental control on it, which allows me to track my playtime on an app. After actively tracking it, I realized my play time displayed on the console is often off by almost 10 hours or so.

For switch games - It tracks the time automatically
For PC - I try to look how many time I was in game

Though, I am now curious, why do you track your time? 🤔

In my case, there's no particular deeper meaning behind it.
I just look at my playtime and think, "I think I'll be able to finish this game soon." I also keep track of the completion time for each character, so the longer it takes, the more I interpret it as having taken my time to read the story, which allows me to objectively reflect on which character's story I enjoyed the most.

I'd like to hear other people's reasons, too.

Surely.. I'm not the only one right? I just screenshot the game the moment I start playing and then I screenshot it again the moment I want to stop playing, that's how I track mine. 😶‍🌫️

I like it when the game tracks the time itself. But if there's no such feature, I just don't bother with it :)

I track how long the common route in Olympia Soire, I wasn't even half way and it's already 4 hours. To answer the question, Yes i do lol

I use Boosted to keep the track of play time. But seeing all the suggestions above, I would try something else. Maybe it would be more convenient for me

Now that Steam includes the playtime tracker even for non-Steam games that you add, tracking playtime for pretty much any PC game has become super easy. I'm really glad they added that feature.
The Switch only seeming to do a rough estimate of total playtime on the other hand isn't quite as helpful unfortunately.

I prefer a notebook and put my score on VNDB.
I have a 100 things notebook and I put notes/summary on otome games. I just started just this year. You can get them at Flying Tiger Coppenhagen shop.

I find it difficult to keep track of my playtime.

I'd rather launch a game than spend time looking at my smartphone or browsing social media.

For PC games, I usually use a screen translator called LunaTranslator, which actually has a really handy built-in feature that tracks both my playtime and the character count. As for console games, they mostly have their own built-in time trackers anyway.
I like to check my playtime every now and then just to gauge the overall length of the game and estimate how much longer I have left to finish it.

I usually track my playtime using the built-in timers on Steam or the Switch. As for PC games not on Steam, I generally don't make a special effort to track the time—though I've heard it's possible to add them to your Steam library as local games, I've never actually tried doing that myself.
