Do you prefer younger Lls, older LIs, or characters around the MC's age?

I prefer it when the LIs are older! If I see that a love interest is younger than the MC, I don't play his route (unless it's mandatory to unlock a route I'm actually interested in)... I just can't bring myself to like younger guys, whether in fiction or real life.

When the love interests are older and more mature, I'm really drawn to playing their routes! Though, of course, that applies only if the age gap isn't tooooo huge or absurd (like the MC being 18 or 19 and the LI being +32☠️).

However, I don't mind routes where the love interest and the MC are in the same age group/similar ages, or love interests who look younger than they actually are. My issue is specifically with characters who are younger than the MC...

i'm not too much of a fan of big age gaps in general, ig? depending on the mentality of the characters, they end up feeling somehow distant or playing too much into tropes or clichés.

not to say i entirely dislike it! though i do prefer when they're both already adults in general. it gets a bit weird for me if not - one of the examples comes from a game i love, which is Ayakashi Gohan: one of the LIs is Manabu, a grown working man, and he of course gets into a relationship with the protagonist, who is still a high schooler. they have their own story together and whatnot, but the difference in maturity and mentality between them just feels uhhhhhhhh yeah. not my cup of tea.

I don't usually pay much serious attention to age, although sometimes I like to tease the MC or LI (if they're a lot older) by saying they'll end up in jail or something like that, haha

I'm definitely a sucker for older LIs. 😭 There's just something about a mature, composed, and dependable character that instantly wins me over. They tend to have this quiet confidence and emotional stability that I find really attractive. I don't mind LIs around the MC's age either, but if there's an older option, that's almost always the route I'll go for first. Younger LIs aren't necessarily a dealbreaker, but they rarely end up being my favorites since I usually prefer a more mature dynamic.

Shout out to: Aiji Yanagi (collarxmalice), Kaoru Rindo (Cafe Enchante) *chef's kiss*

Around the same age > younger > older would be my preference, I think. I don't normally take notice of their age since anime art styles tend to make most characters look fairly young regardless of their actual age, unless they've got facial hair or something. I guess since most older LIs tend to emphasize how much more experienced they are, they're usually meh to me unless they've got something else going on. When I think about it, maybe I prefer younger LIs bc they're more likely to do the chasing? I feel like in most cases the MC is the one that has to prove herself that she's worthy of the LI's affection, and the younger LI trope flips that dynamic, which is refreshing.

I think if younger over 18 and within 5 years if under 25, and older within 10 years?? While English there isn't really a diff in how you are addressed but in Chinese, I'm recently learned I'm a sucker for being called jiejie by a younger handsome guy 😔😔

I think personality is more important than age, but if the age gap is big like 15 years apart, I will choose LI's same age as MC.

I prefer LIs around the same age as the MC the most! I'd love more 30+ older LIs honestly, but I dislike when they have a huge age gap to the MC because it usually leads to a majority of their character being centered on how much older they are 😭 The only older LI I enjoyed with a large age gap is Hanzo Hattori from Nightshade.

It depends on the characters' personalities. Some are younger or older, yet they are really cool and charming. Then there are others—older or younger—whose characters are terrible...

LIs that are either around the same age or are older than the MC, preferably.
With the ones around the MC's age, they have shared/relatable struggles and are more or less on the "same page", if that makes sense.
Older LIs have that mentor/father/older brother/someone-you-can-look-up-to vibe, which I really like.
Younger LIs are good, too; but the character personality archetypes that I like are not very common with them.

You could say this is pretty much a matter of taste. I don't really like middle-aged male characters, but if a game uses them to drive the story well, I tend to grow fond of them. I think this really depends on the game. Games usually try to cater to various tastes, so I don't see that as a bad thing. At least for me.😅 For reference, I tend to like both younger and older characters.

I like all types of relationship. Exploration of the differences in age or absence of it, is pretty interesting to me. But nowadays because I got older, I can not really be interested in younger LI, unless the whole settings is set the way everyone are about the same age (school romance)

I think younger, same-age, and older LIs all have their own unique appeal. That said, if the heroine is very young, like a teenager, I might find it a little odd if the LI is much older. Even so, if the character is compelling and the writing is good, I probably won't mind in the end.

Lately, though, I've been wishing there were more younger LIs. Personally, I don't mind if they're significantly younger than the MC. I think those kinds of dynamics can be really fun too.

I'm not really a fan of younger LIs, to be honest. They usually feel a bit too childish for me. I prefer LIs who are around the MC's age or a little older (not too much older though lol).
That said, if a younger LI is mature enough that you can not tell if he is younger then I guess I'm okay with it

A lot depends not so much on the characters' ages as on their personalities. I usually prefer LI`s who are older than the MC, but there are also LI`s who are younger than MC but have more interesting personalities or are more charismatic than others. So it varies depending on the situation.

I prefer LIs that are around the MCs age. I don't really like big age gaps, though I guess it also depends on MCs age. Like, an older with MC with a much older LI is fine most of the time. I don't like when one side is depicted as really young and overly naive/innocent and the other is an adult. Like, I think the principal from TMGS1 belongs in jail.
