Do you prefer playing on a portable device or on PC?

I prefer playing games on the computer because the graphics are better on a PC, the text is easier to read, and sometimes only the PC version has voice acting. That said, the first visual novel game I ever played was on my phone. It wasn't very polished, but it was very convenient to play. The only downside was that the text was too small, so my eyes needed a break every once in a while.

I also prefer PC. A lot of what I play needs translation software and I like being able to full screen and enjoy all the details. It's also a easier to stream to friends. I have a game night with a friend where we stream vn's to play through together. And I can message someone when a particularly crazy/fun scene is happening and I want them to experience it with me.

For some reason i can concentrate better on a pc because when im playing on my phone i get bored so quick no matter how good the story or gameplay

Portable because I want to be in bed when I'm playing, it's much comfier and my neck hurts when sitting on pc too long (strangely this doesn't happen when I'm playing moba lol)

Yes i do something similar with the small bed tables/portable trays. Though it depends on how demanding the game is on the laptop. if it's not too heated then i just keep it on my lap while i have something supporting my back. that's or use a pillow though nothing special about it. What kind of cushion do you use?
 
I also agree that more multiplatform releases would be amazing. PC ports would give players more choice, and modding or patch support would be so much easier too. It feels like a waste when great games are locked to one system. Fingers crossed that more developers see the demand and start bringing their titles to PC as well!

A very generic one, with a hard flat surface on top, and a soft cushion underneath. Very simple, but does the trick. It's easier to move it around, than a table, and it makes pc a portable device :LOL:

I prefer PC since it's way easier to get uncensored versions there than consoles (technically all console game are censored to certain degree)
Also I guess it's easier for indie or solo developers to get an audience through only PC games since you don't need licensing and such, so PC will always be more accesable in my perspective

I also prefer playing on my mobile! While the large screen of a PC monitor is appealing, nothing beats the convenience of being able to play whenever I want on my phone.

I prefer portable devices so I can play in bed and change positions easily and take them with me anywhere, though I do like the larger PC screen.

I prefer playing games on PC. The first game I ever played was a PC game, and I've been playing on PC for many years ever since. Another reason I prefer PC is that many of the games I like are released on PC. Back then, I could only play at home, but now that I have a laptop, I can play almost anywhere, which is really nice:LOL:

I like playing on handheld game consoles!
It's nice to play on a big screen on my PC, but sitting for a long time is tough.
With a handheld game console, I can play while lying down, and it's easy to stop whenever I want and pick it right back up, so I end up playing on handhelds more often.
 
I prefer playing on my TV.
I connect everything to it if it's possible.
Used projector once, a shame cheap ones die fast.
 
I'd pick the Switch ^^ It just has the better otome library overall, especially if you like Japanese releases, and there are still quite a few games that never get PC ports. I also find visual novels more enjoyable on a handheld since I can just play wherever I'm comfortable instead of sitting at my desk ° And if I ever want a bigger screen, I can always dock it, so it kind of gives me the best of both worlds ~

I usually play otome games on my laptop because the bigger screen makes for a much more comfortable viewing experience. Playing games on a computer isn't as convenient as on a handheld device, but it's easier for me to take screenshots right away and jot down my thoughts on my phone afterward—it's just my personal habit. That's why I've gotten used to playing this way.

i prefer handhelds in general since i like to play while travelling and i like the versatility of it. not that i wouldn't be able to bring my laptop with me, but it's heavy and too much of a hassle.

also i get absolutely too distracted when trying to play something on my pc, so i take 10x longer to finish a game compared to my switch, so yeah. i gotta be really motivated and fixated to power through lmao
 
For me it depends on the game. Mobile dating sims built for mobile (Voltage games, Mystic Messenger, etc.) should be played on the system they were intended for if possible, but for more traditional VN types I am fine playing on PC or console. It's really jarring if you play a game obviously meant for an experience you aren't currently getting, and while sometimes we don't have the luxury of choice re: how we play these games, if I do I try to honor the original creative intent. (Though this probably applies more to non-otoge, but I would lump the mobile-to-switch/PC ports in this category as well.)
