What's your understanding of a strong female lead in otome games?

Strong doesn't mean that it's based on how capable they're on battlefield.

Personally, I adore female MC who can fight plus they're also mentally strong too because that way they're not too dependent on LI. But no people is flawless and i do get that even in fiction too every female lead/MC is also not always a perfect being who can capable on doing both mentally or physically strong.

But, if i can choose between one of it i prefer MC who's mentally strong, clever, not naive, can be reliable by giving an utmost courage/advice for others/LI for them to became stronger and not giving up to despair/hardest situation and also the types of MC who "i can fix him" to be exact.

If she has flaws and isn't clumsy naive. These would immediately make her better than most Otome female leads.

I tend to go by VNDB's definition of a Strong Female Protagonist, which can take many forms.

The tough tomboy who takes no crap from nobody

The fighter with a strong will and self-respect who wants to fight for their own destiny

The refined but brutal schemer who is a ruler first, lover second

It can take many forms, and I like those who's strength feels unique and not just "she can kick ass therefore she is strong"

To me, a strong female lead isn't someone who is physically strong. She's someone who has her own goals, makes her own decisions, and grows throughout the story. She doesn't have to be perfect or fearless, but she shouldn't rely on the love interests to solve every problem.

I haven't seen many examples like this, but I really wish the MC in otome could stand up to really pushy guys and even be a bit of a badass with a strong personality—but the kind of badass you'd root for until the very end and still feel for.

Maybe I'm am outlier when it comes to this (and I'm not articulate enough to explain) but imo a "bad" heroine to me was Juliet from RBL. (Don't know why, maybe just didn't vibe with her) But a lot of the more typically 'bad' MCs I find to be very interesting- Amnesias MC in particular as well as Ceres in Virche. But I can see why others tend not to like these types. : 3

For me, a strong female lead is someone who is mentally strong and doesn't give up easily. She doesn't have to be able to fight. She needs a strong will. A strong female lead is someone who doesn't give up or changes her mind easily, even if she's in a situation where there's not much she can do or she's even powerless.

I think women who have a strong sense of self are truly strong.
It's wonderful to be able to get back up after a setback and keep moving forward while supporting one another.

At first my understanding with strong female leads were limited to being bold, physically strong, having insane plot armor, having the best line comebacks in the script. But as time goes on I learn that kindness is also strength, asking for help is also being brave, being a giver is a gift.

As long as they overcome the conflict/issue of their story, they're marked as strong in my book.
