Do you listen to a drama CD for the voice actor or for the story?

for the story ofc! but, i rarely access drama CD unless after finishing playing the games that i find good, so the drama cd usually serves if i want to crave more about the game's crumb whether it's for comedic purpose or other things.

It's both, but if I had to choose, I'd say voice actors.
I feel like the passion of my favorite voice actors' performances makes up for everything, lol.
Of course, it would be best if they had both.

you just have to like both don't you
but I think the story has A slight edge? I really don't like Dramas with a voice that's not pleasant to my ears usually if I hear a voice i dont like im turning it off within 3 seconds...buuuut on the rare occasion that i allow it enough to get hooked up in the story i will see through to the end. But if its a bland story with good voice by the end im like aaaah i wasted my time

Stories definitely! Even if it's from a fave VA I won't listen unless the story is good :3

I usually check first to see what new works my favorite voice actors have released, then look at the plot to decide whether to buy it. A well-designed cover is a big plus.

For me, the script is my top priority, followed by the voice actors or the publishing company.
A good story allows me to get into and understand the plot more quickly, while the voice acting is a bonus.
If the content is fresh and interesting, and the world-building and characters are engaging enough, I'll be motivated to listen to the whole thing.

劇本對我而言才是第一選擇,其次才是聲優或出版公司。好故事內容會讓我更快進入並理解情節,聲優演出則是加分。如果內容新鮮有趣,世界觀、角色夠吸引我,我才有動力全部聽完。

I often listen for the voice actor but if the drama cd have a English sub, then i will read or understand the story while listening to the drama cd 👻

Definitely story takes priority. When I listen to the same voice actors a lot, I actually end up getting tired of it. I do have my favorite VAs but I like listening to different VAs cause it kinda gives me a break and variety between CDs. As long as I don't dislike the voice, I usually choose the CD if the plot seems interesting

In this case both, though I haven't heard many, I need it to be interesting to invest my time hahah

For me, I rank them for choice the cd
1.Interesting story
2.fav seiyuu
3.More than 60 minutes cd
3.arts cover

But the best choice is good story

I listen to it for the voice actors.
But since some of them don't appear very often, I actually end up listening to it mostly for the story.
I hope they get a lot more screen time.
If it's a voice actor I like, I can overlook it even if the story is just so-so.

Same here! Nobody understands how vital a gripping story is. I've lost count of how many times I've seen my favorite voice actors stuck delivering bland, overused plots.

Hmm... In my case, I basically listen to works based on voice actors.
But sometimes, a work with unfamiliar cast members is a good story. Then it feels like discovering a treasure.

For me, its the story. Even if I like a voice actor a lot, I can't for the life of me remember names. But if I like someone's voice, it makes me interested to check the rest of their works. Otherwise its always the story.

Definitely for the story! I am immediately interested if I read the description and they contain certain troupes/settings that I might like. But ofc the VA is an added bonus and can persuade me into buying it immediately if I love their voice :giggle:
But I have also seen some people choose the cover art over the story, which I am quite curious why that is so:unsure:

For me, I'm definitely in it for the story! While having a great voice actor is a huge bonus that brings the characters to life, it's really the plot twists and emotional depth of the narrative that keep me hooked and make the whole experience truly memorable.

I would say that I listen for the story, but since drama CDs is in audio format, voice actors are also equally important but they have so much more emphasis in audio-only mediums lol
I don't like stories that are porn without plots or very miniscule, unless they were like one of those sleeping aid ASMR types. And when it comes to voice actors, I would rather their performance and mics to be good.

If my kamioshi appears in the cast then you bet it's gonna be bcs of the cast, otherwise is always the plot.
I do have voices I can't stand tho, so I would argue I put more weight in voice actors
