Do you like the slice-of-life otome genre?

Slice-of-life otome games are really wonderful, but if there are no dramatic events, I might just fall asleep lol. It doesn't change the fact that it's a good game, but the sad part is my lack of attention span.

Compared to messy magic settings or other incomprehensibly complex settings, I prefer slice-of-life stories—that's the kind of anime I enjoy watching as well. It's not that I don't like fantasy; it's just that the settings in most otome games feel disjointed. The settings often exist merely for the sake of existing, and many plotlines simply don't hold up—even if you replaced them with a slice-of-life setting, it wouldn't make much difference. In slice-of-life stories, the focus tends to be more on depicting interpersonal relationships. I prefer these micro-level depictions of human connections to macro-level descriptions of settings.

Yes, it's enjoyable and really allows the focus to just be on the character dynamics and romance to take center stage without a massive plot distracting you. Plus, it's just the perfect comfy vibe 🙂

Yes, I really like slice-of-life otome. When it's done well, it's honestly one of my favourite types. I just like watching the relationships build in a more everyday setting without everything being high stakes all the time.

Yeah, I do like them. Sometimes it's just nice to read something relaxing every once in a while, especially after a long day.

I do !! But i don't like them to the point i could spend 50 bucks on them…as someone who's really into lore and angst themes sometimes only have a lovely dovely story with no depth can be boring if too "easy" i usually buy these when they're on sales around 25$ and less cuz my mind can't comprehend why café enchanté is the same ful price as an virche evermore or jack jeanne..

Depends tbh. sometimes they are good if the world is interesting or the plot is good but if its just all fluff for the sake of it without the characters developing or really any semblance of progression if its a pr-established relationship...then no...i need some of that drama and angst cuz my life is already boring why would i need it in a otome game i spent 60+ monies for...

YES. YES. YES.

I love fantasy, horror, and dark romance as much as the next person but there's just something about the slice of life genre. 🤤

It depends on the work. If the plot is decent and has some depth, and the work has the right vibe and atmosphere, then yes.

Yep!!! I think this is the type of otome game I play the most, since often I'm not in the mood for a "complicated" story involving magic systems, social classes, or anything like that... You know, nothing too "elaborate".
Slice-of-life otome games are perfect for those moments when you just want to relax and play a chill game without too much going on or any "complex" systems involved. Just an ordinary MC in an ordinary world, with ordinary love interests: no powers or anything of the sort that puts her life at risk!

I like it as a change of pace, since most VNs I play (otoge and otherwise) are mostly mystery or horror lol
I'm mostly familiar with TMGS and Storm Lover as slice of life titles (and Brothers Conflict, I guess?), so almost all games I've played in the genre are stat-raisers ;b

However, when I think of otoge/BL that get official translations, it seems like slice of life isn't as popular as other genres (especially for BL). I'd actually like to see more light-hearted BL in English VN spaces, it seems like we only get N+C and Adelta games (which are cool, but not very casual lol)

Sometimes i feel like having some fluffy cute light hearted wholesome story, i CRAVE it so please give us moree 😭

Especially the one with school as the set up, it's usually have a not-so-serious conflict, but it's cute because at the same time, at that age that feels Soo important (?) i don't know 😂 maybe I'm getting old, so i would like to re-experience school life lol.

Or the one where we have a glimpse of our little self with the boys (childhood friends trope) or maybe a neighbor as set up, that's also good.

I like slice-of-life otome games as well. If there are charming love interests, that's already enough to get me excited. I also enjoy taking things slow and spending time with them through sweet, relaxing everyday interactions.
