Did you ever wrote a VN/Otome? (or thought about writing one?)

I've made a somewhat linear novel kinda game for my yumeship before, part i enjoy the most are making the script, drawing was tedious but once the finished product is there it's satisfying, choosing music was also fun, i think the most tedious part is putting it all together into one comprehensive game (i used renpy, it's said to be mostly beginner friendly but i still need some learning curve around it) overall it was fun seeing my idea turned into a game

Though i don't think i would go full into an making an original VN on my own cuz i seems to only have the motivation when it comes to my yumeship XD I don't have any original idea not tied to my yumeship that i want to turn into a game....

There was a time when I was passionate—someday! And that day was yesterday. Haha.

I spent the entire day writing, completely losing track of time, while drawing in little illustrations along the way. My notebook got so packed that by the end, my hand couldn't keep up with my brain anymore!

You have no idea how happy I felt, opening up my little laptop and typing away at the keyboard.

And the emotion I'm feeling now is: why did I only write this much?!

I used to have a VN writing project with my team but unfortunately we have to cancel it because of ideal conflict. I really want to write my own VN too but I don't think myself alone can do it properly...

I've definitely fantasized about it a lot, but the actual work is really overwhelming.
My biggest problem has to be music- i know nothing about making it, and I'm afraid of using pre-made free music from others, scared that i might accidentally use something i don't have permission for.
Then there's art... it's not as bad as music, but my art is definitely not on the level i would be happy with. It's not stickman-level bad, but when i look at my finished products they just don't seem worthy enough of an actual game- more worthy as sketches or unfinished drawings. (Anatomy, lighting and lineart are so mean to me...) and I've seen so many games with breathtaking art that it feels wrong to release something if my art isn't at least slightly nice to look at.
And finally the writing and the story. I feel like i won't be satisfied if it's not something gripping and new, at least needs there to be something original about it- which is harder than it looks, since most plots i like have already been thought of. As for the actual writing, i guess it's not too terrible? My English isn't the greatest, but I'm sure i can do well with a dictionary and a spell checker. (And of course searching for fancy words that aren't too out there- the text needs to be at least a little pretty to the eyes)
The designs, ui, and coding might be the easiest part for me, since you can easily find solutions online or ask for help.
So it's mostly perfectionism and creativity and art skills holding me back, but i feel like i will make something one day- maybe a small little indie game that I'll feel satisfied with.

always..... i have a whole ass project where i have all the concepts and visuals, the plot...... i just haven't written a single word other than discussing it with my friends wwwwww

i enjoy the creative part of it, but the execution is on a whole other level. i'd need someone else to keep me on track.

right now i'm ""working"" on the concept of an otome game where the LIs are based on classical pieces, and their plot is based on the feel and meaning of it. they're all dead, but the protagonist Campanella is one of the many conductors of the galatic express, a train of the afterlife/limbo for the recently deceased (miyazawa kenji's night on the galactic railroal). she is on her last track before finishing her job, but having the chance to reincarnate means completing the mission of freeing one of the LIs.

i have so much love for this, but god give me strenght to continue

This is such an interesting idea!! Sounds like the type of game that i would want to 100% <3
If you do decide to make the game someday, please share it! I personally would love to play!

Yes, yes! I even wrote novels as a kid, but I usually stopped halfway. Researching materials was such a hassle I'd look up all sorts of stuff to check if it was realistic, and in the end, I'd just give up. So I really admire those who write long-form works, like millions of words of fiction. As for me, I'm guaranteed to quit within three chapters. :ROFLMAO:

So most of them only ever exist as late-night brain fantasies before I fall asleep.

Tidak, saya belum pernah. Tapi saya kadang memikirkannya. Saya suka membaca VN/Otome jadi menulisnya sendiri terdengar sangat menyenangkan.

Yes, but i lack the abilty to drawn(for now) and my english is bad (for now), i wanted to do a fun, lightweight quick transmigration story, with lots of face slaping, but without the casual misogyny some of the stories in the genre have.

I believe in you, if you really want to make it happen, you can!! I always tell myself the same thing; there's so many indie games out there on itch, steam, novelgame, etc. If those authors did it so can you. Lots of them are a single developer working on a passion project.
For now though, good luck with the story and visuals :)
