Fellow Drama CD fans: Do you listen to the cast talks?

i actually listen to some voice actor cast talk especially if the scenario is unhinged and im curious about what their impression about that work. it also help changed the mood and make me feel relaxed after an intense cd lol and sometime they make funny comment too or tmi that make me know more about them. i usually like the cast talk from circle like honeyparfum, black dharma, bonecage and sugar holic 😆

I do as for all ages drama CD. bc I really curious & want to hear VAs impression toward their own characters (either for the personality/storyline/struggling when performing as a character)

same goes with rated CD. at first I don't want to hear free talk sessions bc I feel awkward and it can't ruined my impression towards them (like you know most of VAs there are with their pseudonym.) but now, tried listening to the garumani radio, that program was how I managed to keep listening to listen free talk sessions now (it's funny when we hear them speak slowly/speak as instructed in their script but suddenly they started speaking faster in free talk sessions)

Sometimes I listen, sometimes I don't. It's because I feel uncomfortable when they don't seem very motivated or when the producer asks them weird questions. But when the voice actor is really accommodating, it can be interesting and fun.So when I see comments from people saying it was interesting, I'll give it a listen.

I haven't listened to cast interviews for a long time.
I'm interested in the characters and their voices, but I'm not really drawn to the people who voice them....
I like the voices and want to see them as those characters, so I hate how watching cast interviews inevitably pulls me back to reality.

Nope…i only do when it's really my faves seiyuus like nobuhiko or matsuoka !! Since it tends to bring me back go reality ( and i wanna be delusional ) but also because there's not really anything to it, i mean it's the seiyuu talking abt whatever they want related to the cd or no and i'm just meh-

If I listen to a voice actor interview comes down to the vibe. Usually I skip beacuse i think that feel forced, awkward, or low-energy, but anytimes I like tuning in when the actor is enthusiastic and funny ( ̄ω ̄;)

Not really. For me the CD ends when the last track of the plot ends. I am only really interested in the plot of the CD. Cast talks for me are almost like an author describing their thoughts about the book at the end which I don't read

mm, not often, but i have when it's a really upbeat seiyuu or playful mood. i do agree it is quite entertaining to hear the different cadences when they're speaking in their normal speed and tone compared to the character. (´꒳`)

sometimes it makes me want to seek out their other work because i enjoyed listening to the actual actor/ress and want to support them. **♡( ⁎ᵕᴗᵕ⁎ )

I get really curious about what voice actors think so yeah I usually check them out, it can be disappointing when they end up sounding disinterested or if the questions provided arent very engaging. I dont take it too personal though since their main job is simply voicing the character and conveying what the story needs, anything more than that is just a bonus. But I do appreciate the enthusiastic VAs.

That being said, sometimes I cant always catch what they're saying especially with the less scripted ones where they talk faster. The other day I was listening to the free talk for 過保護な双子お兄ちゃん VS 童貞彼氏の争奪 and honestly I got lost so many times and had to keep rewinding because the tension was so high and the three of them were kinda talking over each other really fast and joking around lol. It seemed super fun from what I did manage to understand so I look forward to revisiting it when my listening skills get better. Its a reality check when I finish a CD understanding most of it only to be confused in the natural free talk 💀

I always do.

My favorite is when it's a new voice actor and they are obviously SO EXCITED to finally be cast as a professional voice actor. Their happy energy makes me happy too.

Honestly, the cast talk is sometimes the best part of the entire CD for me. (╥﹏╥)

Especially for my favorite, 一条ひらめ, it really allows me to appreciate the amount of work he puts into his recordings/works, and just how... human he truly is. I find it extremely charming to get something like ten minutes of a flesh-and-bone man speaking about this craft and oftentimes his feelings. It's... refreshing. (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)

I used to be really into them. I even bought multiple copies of CDs just to collect the cast talk bonuses. 😂
I'm not sure why, but I've found myself listening to them less and less these days.

Not really, I usually skip them XD
Buuuut, some games include cast talks after you unlock all the endings. For example, in Room No. 9 by Parade, I remember Irakusa Netoru saying it was his first time casting a game with so many R18 scenes, and he was quite surprised by how many there were. It was hilarious and really funny!

As some people have mentioned above, after listening to a drama CD, hearing the free talk section kind of distracts me and brings me back to reality. I still remember have watched a video where the voice actors say that they kiss their hand back palm to create the kissing effect, so sometimes when i hear a kissing scene, i just get distracted by that HAHAHAHA.

In genres (mainly BL) where the cast recording together, those casual talk between the VAs often feels like a fun bonus. But for otomes where solo recordings are the norm, the cast talks sometimes feel like I'm getting a glimpse behind the curtain, and like I'm not really supposed to be hearing it. ( ᐛ )

Curious how everyone else feels!
Sometimes I do. Usually if I load a playlist and it automatically plays.. but I recently discovered that Ash in his regular talking free talk voice apparently has a really soothing sound to me and I was like, I'm tempted to put his Free talks into a separate free talk playlist for falling asleep too. xD

I don't because I have little interest in the seiyuus themselves and time is money, so I'd rather spend the time on something else. (My main interest lies in shipping the characters within the CD with the implied heroine of each CD 🤣)

Now you've mentioned Irakusa Netoru!! I got totally baited by his collab with Shinsen Midori (lol) and eventually listened to the cast talk track after ages. No regret.

RIGHT!?!?! Totally in the same boat. I just can't help thinking "um that muffled sound... their hand must be shielding the mic rn..." after learning about the behind scenes. endless distractions. 🤣

I almost always listen to them. They can be really funny and interesting, especially for drama CDs featuring more than 1 VA.
For me, If the story was a bit heavy, dark or sad then it's especially nice listening to the cast talk. It's kind of a way to step back into the real world, away from whatever tragic story unfolded in the drama CD lol

I feel embarrassed, so I mostly skip it. ( ⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝)
In the future, I want to listen to them, but I have to prepare my heart first. ꉂ (≧ヮ≦)

Oh another thing I like in the talks is if they discuss their thoughts on the work itself. I don't really have any friends to talk to about these things so it *is* nice to hear others thoughts on it lol

I used to listen to the cast discussions after a drama CD ended because I found the voice actors' comments on the recording process interesting. However, over time, I stopped doing that. Now, I prefer to hold onto the feeling the story left me with; hearing the actors speak as themselves pulls me out of the immersion and back to reality too quickly. I feel it somewhat breaks the "bubble" created by the fiction, so I skip them now and simply cherish the drama experience just as it concluded.

I didn't expect so many advocates and opposers of free talks, seems listeners win by a slight margin
If I buy a cd and end up not liking it free talks can be its saving grace.

It's limited to otome content, but I really enjoy cast talks featuring professional voice actors. They really give off that "professional speaker" vibe, and it's a pleasure to listen to them.
I'm not really a fan of cast talks from the doujin scene, though. Some voice actors lack humility, and the more I listen to them, the less I like them.
I do agree and there's another reason for this: Most professional voice actors are used to stuff like interviews, talk events and radio hosting so they know how to create a good mood while sounding genuine, they probably mastered this experience by working with others and getting feedback from audience.. Doujin scene lacks this so it puts them at a disadvantage, but natural mood makers can break the stereotype
