Does playing otome games for a long time make it harder to date in real life?

No, but I'm also not quite interested in relationships. Otome games haven't really affected my life in that way, in the same way anime and manga haven't. I still enjoy these stories of often idealized romance.

No, I don't think so… it's more like a hobby. I enjoy playing otome games, experiencing their stories, and the variety of characters and their designs. But it still stays within something I really enjoy💜 as a form of entertainment, separate from real life and dating

I'd say no as I'm exclusively attracted to women irl and that's tough enough as it is. I don't think it's bad to have standards from playing otome games at all.

there is nothing wrong to be picky tbh, almost all the people that i have heard complain about high standars are people that are not good partners in the first place. insecure people that prefer the benefits of dating and dont want the responsabilities.
if you want to have a person that loves you with all their heart, treat you well, sweep you from your feet it is okey and a stranger in the internet will be rooting for you. it will be hard, the world its so crazy in this modern times.
maybe it will never happen, and that its also okey, just live your life the best way you can. life likes to give lemons, so lets make the best got darn lemonade in the world.

Hypothetically, if an android became sentient AI, I'd be ecstatic. I've remained 2D-phile for life. I will decipher the ancient moon runes and proceed down this hedonist path gladly :>

Actually, after getting my heart broken in real life, I started playing a lot of otome games, and lately I've come to think that in a way, it might have helped ease my fear of romance:)

Seeing the cute main characters throwing themselves wholeheartedly into love really motivates me to take better care of my skin and put a little more effort into my appearance✨

What an interesting question — I really like it. The thing with games is that you're in a safe environment, with tons of options, just like you said. It's comfortable and straightforward. Real life? Not so much. But the good news is, you can take what you've learned from that. And you already nailed it: you want to be treated kindly and to feel loved.

So here's what's key when it comes to relationships: communication. If you don't tell your partner what you're looking for, what works for you, what doesn't — how on earth are they supposed to know? No one's a mind reader, right?

At the end of the day, there's nothing sexier than someone who knows what they want and is clear about things.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Enjoy your games, and don't let fear hold you back in your love life. Just be yourself, and please, open communication at all times! That makes everything so much easier, both before getting into a relationship and during it.

I don't think knowing what a beautiful, ideal love looks like makes it harder to accept the flaws of real life romance. Because even if you never knew that ideal, reality wouldn't magically become better. So why not aim higher? If you haven't met someone who treats you the way you deserve, that just means the right person who is truly worthy of your love hasn't shown up yet.:alice_hmm:
