Your opinion on otome gacha games

I'm actually playing a lot of gacha games. To be honest, the stories in most otome gachas are pretty weak. But on the bright side, the character designs are gorgeous. ❤️
Even though I always tell myself to save, my hand just pulls anyway—even though my gacha luck is absolutely terrible ͜ಥʖ̯ಥ

I'm only interested in main story cause the story event is boring I hate gacha system what do you mean I saved my gem for 6 months and end up for nothing not even single normal ssr card happen everytime

It's usually hard to completely collect even a single character without a heavy time/money investment, and since I'm a big completionist, I quickly lose interest in a game if I can't get what I want. On top of that, I easily get tired of grinding, so I'm not really a fan of gacha mechanics. I much prefer paying for a game once and being able to enjoy all the content right away:smile:

I used to play a bunch of joseimuke and otome gacha when I was a teen (and had more free time to grind lol), but nowadays, I really don't have the patience!

I've played the Cybird games, ToT, Love x Producer and Love and Deepspace, and although some players enjoy the constant influx of new content, it's really not for me. I feel like always adding new stuff can lead to OOC down the line, as well as a disconnect from the romantic moments, since they're more or less fanservice (since you're not guaranteed to get the card, they're not always canonical). Getting a late-game romantic moment between the characters, when you're still at the beginning of the game, just doesn't have the same impact as seeing the relationship develop in a complete game...

There's also the risk of EOL... you never know when a game will be deemed not lucrative enough, and you lose all your hard work (and money!) And don't even get me started on bad odds, always pulling characters you don't even care about in banners and stuff, when your resources are so limited ;b

The only otome gacha game I consistently played before was Tears of Themis. Unfortunately, I'm in the camp who isn't so interested in event cards & banners, and was only interested in the main story. I reached the latest chapter way back then(I was one of the players who started playing during its release), but I slowly just dropped it. Gacha games are also usually designed to promote pulling to get high level cards to advance or for extra content or some perk, which feels predatory especially since 'guaranteed' pulls make players need to invest a lot of resources.

For mobile otome games, I'd prefer it to be Mystic Messenger style. I'm in the F2P camp for gacha games or only do a small purchase as a support/appreciation, so I'd rather just pay one time for the whole game or even just per route.

And just like someone said here, if the game shuts down, then all your saved progress, stories, cards, and everything is gone forever. I remembered some game called Star Project in the 2010's. Before I could actually be invested in the game, the website was deleted so I never knew much about the story, but I remembered really enjoying it during my small limited time playing it.

Gacha games just get boring fast if you have to grind for pulls to save. Haha.

Every time I see a cool illustration, I get the urge to pull a gacha. But in gacha games, the story progresses so slowly that it feels like it'll never end. Even when there's a limited-time event where you're supposed to be in a relationship with a character, I hate how the story feels disjointed because there's no build-up to the relationship.

When you play gacha games, they get exhausting and require an endless amount of money. Especially because characters you want come out as limited-edition gachas. As expected, I prefer console otome games.

I'm completely neutral regarding gacha games in general. I don't spend real money on gachas, so I'm content with whatever the game has to offer as long it doesn't interfere with the main storyline. Games like Lovebrush Chronicles and those by Cybird are excellent examples, as most of their gacha elements don't impact the story. For the most part they consist solely of cosmetics or collectible cards featuring your favorite characters. Personally, I don't even make a habit of spending the in-game resources provided for gacha pulls, so I tend to just let them pile up. I save them and only use them on the gacha when there's a specific card I'm trying to get; I feel this is a better strategy than spending them little by little and ending up with nothing. In Lovebrush Chronicles, for instance this is a solid tactic because they frequently rerun past cards—and they even have events where you can specifically select the exact card you want. If you stockpile your gacha items and keep pulling until you get what you're after, it's practically impossible not to get it within 40 pulls. Well, unless you have truly terrible luck XD

The only one I casually play is LADS mainly due to event mini games, combat, and the 3D graphics. I main Caleb and Sylus, but I'm a low spender so I skip most of the card banners and only pull for the ones I really want. These gacha games can get super expensive quickly, and it is easy to spend more money than a regular otome game, so I don't really spend as much time on them and focus my free time on other hobbies and games to prevent fomo

I think it will essentially comes down on how the dev handle the gacha part of the game.. If the game is highly dependent on the gacha system and the pity system is brutal then in the end I will drop it even if the story is good, because if that is the case, then it's only a cash grab that will have no care on their audience.

I don't mind any gacha system as long as it's completely balance and makes sense on the gameplay part... tho I wish that a lot of gacha game will still be accessible to f2p players.

I am not disciplined enough to get invested in gacha but I am super happy for the other girlies who are loving it. I wouldn't call otome stuff niche exactly but it does feel very lacking when compared to all the male oriented stuff. (⁠◡⁠ ⁠ω⁠ ⁠◡⁠)

Actually i don't really like gacha otome games. I think the only otome gacha that i play is Tears of Themis, and it's because their gameplay is not really taking to much time, and i only aimed for 1 guy (luke) anyway.

Otome Gacha Games just take way too much time just to read like what, 1 or 2 chapters? It is just really exhausting and drives me off. I'd rather just read something continuously until I want to stop, not when the game tells me to. I do of course like some of them for having good art or trying something with the side content, but the gacha system isn't enough just to read some chapters a day.

I've played a lot of otome gachas. Obey Me (even though it's technically not otome because MC is non-binary), Ikemen Series, Idols of Starlight (do you even count? you've only had one limited banner so far), Love and Deepspace, Light and Night. I'm pretty okay with skipping a majority of the cards because I know there are uploaders for them, plus it takes me time to actually sit down and read through the story, so even if I did get every card I would never be able to read through all of them.

I've accepted that with high quality pretty art, it will mostly be from gacha otomes. I don't mind the gacha aspect, I just wished the event stories weren't limited so I wouldn't need to rush through it on the last day of the event due to procrastination and busyness.
