Do you care more about the heroine's character design or the romanceable characters'?

I care more about the LI's design than the heroine. That's like the one of the main selling points to me. Maybe because I'm kinda used to a heroine with no definite physical appearance as I've been playing a lot of indie games with that kind of MC atm. So, the MC's design is not an issue. However, if they have a set personality, I think that matters to me more.

First of all, male lead designs are everything to me... If none of them catch my eye, I just can't bring myself to care about the game. But Norn9 has three different female protagonists, right? And the guys you can romance depend on which girl you choose... Surprisingly though, instead of picking the girl who routes with my favorite guy, I found myself picking my favorite female lead design first lol. I guess it's because I'm the type of player who heavily self-inserts into the female main character.

(Also, English isn't my first language, so I'm relying on a translator to write this!)

Like many have mentioned, I care more about the character designs of the LIs. The character designs of the LIs have an impact on whether I'm interested in the playing the game or not. If the character designs don't draw me in or aren't to my personal liking, I will either not play it or it will be lower on my priorities list. However, if the game has a really good story and is always recommended by others, I will give the game a try even though I wasn't initially interested in the LIs. This has happened before and I came to love all the characters in the end. I feel like the heroine's character designs are usually really cute, pretty or beautiful. I don't think I've ever encountered a game where I didn't like the heroine's character design or didn't play the game because of it. If there's a problem with the heroine it's usually becuase of her personality or actions (usually lack of) in the game.

Definitely care more about the protagonist. She needs to have substance and something that grips me as her role in the story is much bigger than one of the LIS. Obviously the LIS need to be fleshed out as well but one or two bad ones doesn't put me off the game fully :)

For me, the most important thing is the design of the male characters, because although it's fun when the protagonist is interesting and has a good personality, In the end, I pay more attention to men. 🎀

Both. If I don't like the LIs visuals and personalities then I don't buy the game because I won't be interested in romancing any of them but a heroine I don't like also makes it hard for me to continue playing a game. Visuals matter a lot to me in otome games so I skip games where the visuals of both MC and LI don't interest me

Ofc, i care more to Mc. Mc is basically our voice and heart. Stories will feel more interesting and likeable if the player can feel related with the protagonist.

I do care a lot about the heroine, but not so much her appearance — it's more about her personality. I love watching her grow throughout the story. Actually, a heroine who's too perfect isn't really my type.

To be honest, I'm more interested in male characters. (。・//ε//・。)

I also like female characters too, though. The designs of their outfits in each game's theme are really beautiful and cute.

I care about the design of both the heroine and the love interests.
But even if the love interests are well-designed, I'll still avoid a game if the heroine isn't, so I guess I probably place more importance on the heroine's design.

I definitely think that while the male characters' looks are important, the female protagonist's personality matters too.

I don't like crybaby characters; I prefer bold and confident personalities.

a good balance is important to me, with maybe a slight lean towards the men. while the heroine is a pretty important part of the otome experience, if your capturable targets suck both design- and writing-wise, then whats the point of your game being an otome? there are some otome that allegedly dont flesh out their lis at all, and thats.. weird? thats not something i can accept..;-;
i can forgive a boring otome mc, and if anything id feel better if more heroine designs looked like just your average unassuming girls, but a boring li, or even worse, MULTIPLE boring lis, is an immediate no from me. i mean, while not to the extent of galge, otome is a genre heavily reliant on self-inserting and romancing beautiful men, so.. kindly provide that, at the very least!!

I always felt that the main focus of the genre was the love interests, but pleasantly surprised to see it isn't all black and white. I feel like it is more of an art style thing than character with me, so that gravitates me towards the love interests since I will be seeing them the most.
I feel like a bland MC can be good if she is meant to be a stand in. Not the most fun option but I can definitely see why some prefer that. I think either way it's neat to see how the devs want to portray her. :)

I care more about the male characters' designs because they're the ones I see most while playing, but I also enjoy looking at well-designed heroines. When I really like the design, I often choose a wallpaper with my favorite male character with the heroine.

They rarely do this anymore, but I never liked it when companies left heroines' faces out of CGs. I always thought, "Just draw her face in! Otherwise, she looks like a ghost!" lol.

I care more about MC personality. If she too annoying, dumb or mazo like Yui i will drop game. And I care less about MC sprite. Only in 7'Scarlet i disliked MC design . Her eyes and smile is creepy .

This is all my personal opinion, but definitely more about romanceable characters!
I never had any issues or concerns regarding the heroine's personalities or backgrounds.
The most important thing for otome games/ cds is how interesting the male leads are, like their looks, voices, characteristics and backgrounds.
I think it's because I get less concentrated on the heroine/main character, but more on what's happening with the love intersts when I play the games firsthand.

It might be because I've played a lot of vns where the mc is kind of a self insert rather than her own person, I think I'd like them with a little more personality. I think I liked the self insert mc when I was younger but now as I'm older , my preferences have changed a bit. I think romancable characters having more effort put into them is a given considering that the games are otomes.

I think the LIs' designs are more important to me - it's what I'll be looking at for most of the game, after all! Although I still care about the MC :)
