Do VAs influence you to start an Otome?

Tbh VAs are a massive deal for me lol. Like, a great voice can completely carry a trash route, but if the voice doesn't match the art? it totally ruins the vibe and i can't even focus on the story.
If i see Yuki Kaji, Nobuhiko Okamoto, or Tsuda on the cast list, i'm basically sold. It goes straight to the top of my backlog lol no questions asked.
But that thread raised such a good point about the mute button though. If a VA has too much real life drama (*cough*

Daisuke Hirakawa

) or the voice just grates on my nerves, being able to mute just that one character is a lifesaver ~
the absolute worst feeling though is when your fave is casted but it's a non-romanceable side character... like why do they do this to us 😭

No, not really.
I have a few favorite voice actors, and I can recognize a dozen or so others while playing (though even then, I couldn't name them off the top of my head), but that doesn't determine whether I'll play a particular game or not.
For me, having a favorite voice actor in a game is just a nice bonus, not a deciding factor :).

I tend to go in blind and not know who the VAs are. However! If there's a voice I really like while playing, will definitely influence me to go for that character more just to hear more of their lines
Saaaame! I tend to skim through voice cast and play mostly blind. However, I do have a VA that I particular don't like(his voice is associated with bad memories for me from a previous role of his. And during that time I randomly watched a talk show coincidentally with him as a guest and his normal speaking voice is like, 100% the same as his VA voice, which really broke my immersion. So when I hear his voice, I imagine the actual 'person' or his previous role, which really irritated me).

It went so bad that I can recognize his voice with just one to two words from a character he voices. I used to joke with my friends that I'm like an anti-fan because I can recognize his voice so quickly. It's like... I know his voice so well that I'm like a 'fan' but... I recognize his voice simply because I don't like him. 🫣

I do feel it's unwarranted hate, but I can't help disliking what I dislike. Hahaha. So yes, I don't really care much who voices characters as long as they fit the role, but with a specific exception of one VA(which will not be named. Hahaha).

Im so curious of who you're referring to 👀 because im the same but with Okamoto Nobuhiko, he could just breath and i would recognise and get annoyed by him immediately, even hearing my all time favourite seiyuu will take me some words to confirm that is in fact him

It's def a bonus if I like the voice actor but my taste is so particular that I'm more interested in the combo of character appearance/trope + fitting voice. The voice actor himself might not matter much in this case, as long as they fit the character I'm interested in. I do have to say, when it hits...it hits. Dorothy and Horie Shun? Couldn't get better than that 🩷😔
On the other hand it's actually worse when I like a characters' appearance but dislike the voice actor, that's usually enough to avoid the route or just not buy the game if that was the only one I was truly interested in

definity !! i personally ALWAYS but like always check the seiyuus behind the game even for the side characters lolz, if i see one of my fav seiyuus i just directly buy and play the game ( biased ) so whenever there's an otome game with toki shunichi, furukawa makoto, nobuhiko okamoto or matsuoka yoshitsugu, you just know i already have the game xdd

Voice actors are important to me too. I usually check a game's cover first, then read the synopsis, look at the characters I'm interested in, and see who voices them.

And of course, I have my favorite voice actors: Suzuki Ryouta, Azakami Youhei, Okamoto Nobuhiko, Hosoya Yoshimasa, Takatsuka Tomohito, and Umehara Yuuichirou

Huhuhu. Noooo. I'll be judged by his fangirls! He's already mentioned more than one time in this thread alone as a favorite so... Nope! This secret shall perish with me!(loljk)

And oooh. Oka Nobu? I'm fairly neutral with him, but I share some of the sentiment that his newer roles have distinct but annoying sounds(his screaming, in particular). Now, he is too recognizable in his Bakugou-Nishinoya shouting voice, but honestly I remember him from his Usui in Kaichou wa Maid-sama era, where his voice was soothing/soft during like.. 2008-ish? Huhu, I started anime when I was super super young, but saying 2008 which is 18 years ago makes me realize how old I've gotten. HAHA.

Small hint: The voice actor I hate is very VERY famous, also has a distinct voice as well. Because I associate his voice with his face since forever, and he makes that 'poyopoyo' or cutesy vibes in variety shows, it almost makes want to gag(I dislike shotas, so this really made me dislike him even more). I remember telling my friends about a variety show I accidentally watched with him as a guest like more than a decade ago, and I told them, "What's this guy acting all cute for? I'm still barely a teenager and he acts like a baby when he's already well in his 20's. 🙄"

As someone who experienced working now that I'm older, I can respect his hustle back then, but dang I really cannot extinguish this hate that ran for so many years. 😭 I have to say though, I liked this guy's earlier role released 1 or 2 years before his 'breakthrough' role, so maybe I was just a fan that turned into his black fan/anti-fan. Lol.

No. What make me interested the most always for the concept of the story and visual artstyle of the game. VA not really a factor for me.

For me, VA doesn't affect my gaming experience. Actually, I don't pay much attention to VA. I usually focus more on the game's art style, plot, and settings. I only play the content inside the game. Personally, I think it serves the sound inside the game, making it more vivid and realistic.

If there is no voice in a typical game, I can still play it. I only look at the game's art style and plot, and what I value more is the game itself.

I sometimes play games because my favorite voice actor is in them.

Even if I haven't fully completed a game, I'll continue playing games featuring that voice actor one after another.

I assume you're talking about otome games? In that case, the character designs and their personalities intrigue me, instead of the vas.

I don't usually pay attention to voice actors when choosing games but I enjoy the game more when I find out that my favorite voice actors are voicing the characters I liked.

I would still play an otome game even if its not voiced or not having my fav VA there depending on the plot but once i see fav VA on titles,i am in!

I am a seiyuu fan so I will check the VAs before buying the game. I personally love Furukawa Makoto and Kimura Ryohei. I will prioritize playing otome games voiced by them.

The very first thing I check is, of course, the illustration, but I always make sure to check the voice actors as well. If there is a voice actor I like, my anticipation definitely goes up. Also... I do tend to avoid voice actors involved in controversies. Yet, I still end up encountering them😥

I started to watch anime around 2008 its been so long 😭. And yes he has his fair amount of soft speaking roles, a lot of my favorites where voiced by him but i think thats how i started to get annoyed by him, he is everywhere and everytime i searched for the va of someone i liked he was there, i think i just got tired of reading his name lmao

Lmao i have reach a point where I actually like when people act cute for the fanservice so we are probably going to differ in our opinions about whoever this is hahahah

Not really  I have a few very small VAs I fancy but there's barely anything with them. It's fun to recognise popular ones though... Kakihara Tetsuya is one of the ones I particularly like seeing
