How important is the visual style of otome to you?

I feel the same way!
In order to even want to play, I first need to like the characters.
I think of the story as second.
Of course, if the story is too boring, I think I'd end up giving up halfway through..

I personally value plot over art style in every way. As long as the art isn't distracting me from the story, a generic art style is perfectly fine with me

The art style doesn't matter much as long as the story is good.
I think that Frozen Essence and Doppleganger: Dawn of the Inverted Souls are the best examples of this.
Also, Princess of Ruin doesn't look great but it's a really good game.

Actually there's several games that I play where I'm not a fan of the visual style. Like one that may be shocking is Cupid Parasite. I like the colors and how cute everything is but the style isn't my favorite. Generally speaking, I'll play any game as long as the story and characters are good. But if the art is pretty and the game is bad, I won't play it. So I'm not too moved by the art itself. I even play text-games with limited or no visuals.

The art style of the game is very important to me. If the art style is not good, I won't be able to continue playing the game.
The art style mainly determines whether I will play this game or not.
Secondly, I need to look at the plot and content settings of the game to see if I am interested.
If I really like it, I will play the game many times. If I don't like it but the art style is good, I may complete my favorite character line.

I'd say it's pretty important, but not everything. A nice art style definitely helps me get into the game at first, but if the story or characters are poorly written, I'll lose interest quickly. I once played a game purely because the art was gorgeous, but the bad writing made me lose interest and drop it after just two routes, even though the visuals were gorgeous. So for me, good visuals are a huge plus, but the plot is what keeps me playing

In the beginning, I mostly just looked at the illustrations. But as time passed, I found myself prioritizing the story more. I think I'm changing as I get older. But that's just a matter of personal preference. I just hope both the illustrations and the story are good!😂

very important for me because I really enjoy pampering my eyes to see the pretty arts and as an appreciation to the artist who handled the character design, BG illustration, etc.

It's definitely important, but I did play some games where I didn't like their artstyle but was interested in the plot or characters. So it's not a dealbreaker but it's less likely I'd pick them up if there is a lot to choose from.
