Got notified that the Kickstarter for "A Date with Death 2: REMNANTS" ended today (though late pledges are still accepted) and it got me thinking about Kickstarter games.
Backing something is always a risk, as there are definitely cases of products not releasing in the quality promised, or the game being delayed time and time again, and also cases of developers going silent / MIA and the promised product not being released at all.
For me, I try to pledge only to studios/devs I trust to some degree (usually those with past projects or active social media presence that points towards a certain amount of passion for their craft).
In other cases (usually for studio with no prior works I've had exposure to), I pledge because I really want to see what was outlined come into fruition.
(On that note, I never pledge because I'm interested in beta/alpha access since I like to play when the game is complete, but I think some people do pledge for that since they can help refine a game they love to some extent.)
Of the 14 games I've backed so far, only one has released (on schedule), and one is half a year behind its Kickstarted stated estimated delivery date, and the rest are still in production.
As for the Kickstarter games I'm looking forward to, it would be...all of them because I only back what I'm looking forward to
If I had to highlight just a few:
- My Time at Evershine (not an otome game but if you've played Sandrock, I think you know why I backed this xD)
- Knee Deep!: In Love
- House of Petals
What about you guys? What are some games you have backed on Kickstarter that you are looking forward to?
