I'm sometimes not completely sure if I understood everything in a game. And even official localizations don't always get things right.

When a game gets localized, I feel like I could play it again, but at the same time, I'm not sure if it's really necessary.

So, girls — would you replay a non-localized game you've already played, once it gets an official localization?

It doesn't necessarily depend on the situation.

If I'm not very interested after playing the original plot, I probably won't play localization again. If I'm very interested, I will replay localization again!

It mainly depends on whether the game affects my brainwaves haha

I only play non-localized games if I really like them and feel strongly interested. Maybe I should give them another try — maybe it'll bring me a whole new experience. :alice_hi:

Something a French teacher told me, translation is a person's opinion/thought of the original text. I do recognise translation could give a different vibe/flair especially with words/sentence choices translator chooses. So if it is a game I really really love or curious how it turns out in English I probably might play it again. (Taisho Alice is one of those I need to try to play in English).

It depends but I think I would if I loved the game, I want to make sure I understood everything, and it has been a pretty long time since I've last played it. I might not replay the whole game though and just do my fave routes. I rarely replay otome games because to me, it's not really fun to replay something I already know the plot of and how things will end. I also have a huge backlog so if I keep replaying games I don't think I'll ever reach the end of it lol.

If it's in a language I don't know and used translators - then yes, I will read localisation. If it's in a language I can read - then no, translation may be good, may be great, but it never will surpass the original

Yeah💖 Especially if I like a game, or if it's been a few years since I played it the first time, I'll play it a second time.

Sometimes, even with MTL, I feel like I've misunderstood something. When I listen to the original language and read the official translation, everything falls into place.

(And I'm the type of people that replay games🤣)

I think it depends, actually I didn't play each unlocalized games because it's so inconvenient, but if I play it then it must be very attractive, and I will play it again even it never got localized, for example, the FD of Nil Admirari no Tenbin~

I'll play the game again ^^" But only if I really enjoyed it..🌫️

Nah I feel like every moment spent on a localised game could be used on playing a japanese one in my backlog instead lol. Especially these days with some companies being lazy enough to release MTL localisations... like people can just do that themselves lmao. I still have a few localised games that I bought and still havent played/finished because of this mindset but hopefully I can one day so that I dont feel like it was a waste of money

Through LunaTranslator, I am even playing unlocalized games by translating them.

Because of that, even if a game I already played gets localized, I don't think I would play it again.

I have so many games to play that I can only play in one language and don't really have time to spare to replay in another, so I prioritize playing in the OG language whenever possible. That being said, as a translation nerd I LOVE hearing about localization choices so when my friends happen to play a game I'm interested in or have played but the languages differ, I eat that stuff up like it's dessert.

For example, while it's not an otome game at all, I plan on playing the Hundred Line soon in Japanese, and a friend is currently playing it in English and posting out of context lines from it. The localization is frankly a riot, and I'm excited to see what the original lines behind those translations are once I get to the game on my backlog!

Also, as someone dabbling in translation myself beyond just nerding out over it, I'll have to echo the sentiment that a translation is, in essence, the translator's interpretation of the original text and them doing their best to convey how they interpreted it (if they care about their craft, that is). Not everyone has the same philosophy and ethics when it comes to the craft, and I'm pretty sure that while some would be okay with my personal approach, others would absolutely hate it.
