GAME TITLE: Kikou Sentai Edelstein
GAME TITLE ORIGINAL: 輝光戦隊エーデルシュタイン
VNDB: https://vndb.org/v38245
PLATFORM:PC
RELEASE DATE:2008-01-27

Description
The protagonist meets a well-known senior at the high school he enrolls in.
He's not particularly good-looking, and in fact, his white coat and glasses give him a mysterious air.
For some reason, the senior is the object of admiration from the female students.
According to his friends, he's a world-class genius.
Without warning, the senior taps the protagonist on the shoulder.
And then he says just this:

"Would you like to be my pink?"

"Yes?"

From that day on, evil fighters appear, ignoring the protagonist's wishes, and the protagonist is inevitably drawn into daily battles.

[Roughly translated from the Official Website.]

This game is something I came across by chance. The official website says there are a Taiwanese-translated version and a Japanese version. If anyone has either of them and could share it, I would be very grateful.

+1, I will say it appears to be relatively lost media. I have browsed Surugaya and found listings but they are all sold out.

The game was sold through mail; the demo disk was distributed through comiket 71 and the game was released somewhat shortly after. I will say unfortunately I don't think a download version of the full game was ever released, it seems to be package only. The fact that there's a soundtrack posted on Youtube is posted by the original creator, but I doubt they would have it. If there's any hope, we should contact them. They appear to be active on their Twitter but I refuse to pay for Verification.

I should also mention more important details:

- I was fortunate to make a capture of the official site before it went down. It's here.
- By some miracle through this capture I was able to find the creator's email. Only time will tell if they'll ever respond.
- Atelier Juno's last game, FEUD, was released in 2013. They went MIA since. They are no longer active; their website went down ~2025.

I browsed through catalogs and found that they were sold in Comiket 74 and Comiket 75. The archive of the Comiket 75 gave me a potential lead of someone I coincidentally already have regular contact with, who was in a nearby booth selling stuff at the time. Keeping you all posted.
Dead lead. They confirmed they were there, but they don't remember anything regarding the game in question.

Breakthrough, I managed to find Juno's pixiv. This confirms she A. Retired, B. Can be contacted as one of her most recent bookmarks is from 2025. I shot her a message.

I have no clue how I managed to pull this off lmao.

Bad news. She got back to me and confirmed she no longer has the game files. But I am sure I can snag a physical copy if I look hard enough.

I confirmed there are at least 3 surviving copies in good condition judging by Surugaya. The question I am yet to receive an answer on is how many copies were sold in total. That answer will help me gauge the rarity and how many copies could still exist if it was last sold formally by the circle around 2009-2010

(My best estimate is a few hundred copies and at the same time I have to assume a lot of them were either destroyed, lost or still in possession of other people in a worse case scenario)

Okay, so, update. This is how things are:

Juno confirmed only 200 copies were ever distributed. This would mean that at worst, only 40-50 copies remain. We know that 3 still exist in circulation and are collector's items, as one of the copies was sold for around $40 on Surugaya. However, what is much more likely is that about 80-100 copies (a little less than half sold) remain. That places it at an extremely rare collectible to obtain, but that also means that thankfully a lot of them should be in good condition exactly because they are doujin collectable goods. I will personally try to obtain one of these discs one of these days.

Internet forensics/detective mode disengaged, good night everyone.

Alright guys, final post here for a while. I am afraid I will probably not come back until a few weeks or months because I will have to religiously check surugaya for when another copy pops up. Until that fateful day (it WILL happen, I have too much time on my hands and the stubbornness of a mule), the best I can offer is a link to a demo (https://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/winnt/game/se458465.html) and a review that gives away some story detail and might help illustrate what the game would be like if it is never found, spoiler warning in case (http://natsusukiyari.blog52.fc2.com/blog-entry-19.html)

Thank you for your hard work in digging up all this information And thank you for reaching out to the game's creator (Juno)! @plipplopcountess

Even if we may never find the complete version of this game, just knowing that it truly exists in the world makes us happy.

Still, I'm curious—was this game really released in a Taiwanese translation? Aside from the official website, there's no mention of it anywhere else. Maybe I should go look for more clues. :3

I think it was, as it says so on the website and on VNDB. I have two theories, though.

The game was sold only at events, so my theories are this.

A. Language select screen. Self explanatory. The translation would be located in game, likely toggled by settings

B. It was sold alongside regular Japanese copies at Comiket and other similar events. This would make it extremely rare.
