Do you prefer to keep the default MC's voiced name or change it to your own?

I personally have a tough time deciding every time I play. On one hand I want to immerse into the story (self-insert) on the other I would like to hear the LIs acknowledgement instead of awkward pauses. If they voiced the name letters like in Tokimeki Memorial, it would be nice. :alice_inlove:

I prefer keep default MC's voiced name and never change to my real name. If MC not voiced and i dislike her name i will change to my nickname. But its rare. I associate myself with MC not self insert. Sorry my bad english

Never been the type to go for anything other than the default, even when voices aren't part of the equation. I like to give myself the chance to potentially come out of a game as a fan of the protagonist! If something is well written I tend to get immersed still, luckily.

I do change the MC's name sometimes, but it depends on the game or just how I feel at the time. If I already like the name the game gives her, then I usually leave it as it is. :)

I kept the default MC's voice because I prefer LI to call the MC by their name. Another reason is that I'm pretty bad at naming characters, so I preferred to keep it as is.

i don't really self-insert and i prefer to keep default MC name, i see her as her own separate character. in some games she doesn't have default name and i have a really hard time choosing one ahaha
and i really like to hear when MC name is voiced!

I don't usually change the MC's name; I only bizarrely change it when the character has no name at all. I like hearing the characters call the protagonist by her name.

I always leave the default one, and I love when it's voiced! I think it's cute hearing the LIs call the MC :)

I don't self-insert, so in games where the MC has no default name I come up with a random one to give her. I think my name looks a bit weird in some otoge scenarios, haha

I've seen some games that will mask the awkward pauses where the voiced name would be with pet names though! Which it's a good middle ground for voiced interactions, I think ;b

I will always keep the original MC name if it's available. ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
Honestly, to me, putting my own name in would feel very weird. I did grow up seeing that sort of thing online, esp. in otome-adjacent spaces, but it's never felt quite... right to me, I think? I like experiencing the story with the MC being a full-fledged character, even if she'd be a bit different from how I usually am. I suppose it speaks more to how I interact with stories in general. For me, a self-insert doesn't even need to be very specific, I suppose it's just more of a... putting myself in MC's shoes rather than having her be in MY shoes... or something like that. (๑﹏๑//)
So it's kind of like a self-insert, but not really...? I dunno, aaaah. (ᵕ • ᴗ •)

I don't self-insert so I always leave it to the default name. I love hearing the characters call the MC by her name. I think it just allows the MC to be more a part of the story, especially since most of the time MCs aren't voiced. I also love when the characters give and call the MC by cute nicknames. The only time I change the name is when there's no default name, but even then I usually just change it to a name I use for those situations instead of my own name.

I prefer to keep the default name.Hearing the VAs fully voiced and delivering those emotional lines with the MC's actual name is just irreplaceable.😍

If the default name is voiced, I prefer to keep it as the default. In games where it's not voiced no matter what, I'll usually change it to something similar to my name depending on what fits best with the setting (for example, seeing my very not-Japanese name in a SoL or historical Japanese-set game does more to break my immersion than help it, so I usually pick out a JP name that's similar enough).

In any case I prefer for the default name to be voiced though. No matter what kind of workaround the VO has for not pronouncing the name, it always feels awkward to me and self-inserting is not really enough of a priority for me to override that awkwardness.

I love to keep it on default, specially when they are voiced ( the name part)
but I think I still leave it on default even if there;s no voice, I prefer to play otoge like reading novel..
if I changed it to my name, I think it would be to awkward for me (*/ω\*)

It depends. If it's a plot heavy game or heroine has her own personality, I keep the default name. If it's something like a stats raising otome (tokimemo etc), then I go with my own name.

I'm the type of person who names a cat - Cat, and it's so hard to think of a good name, so always the default one. Besides, awkward pauses in voices are too much to bear
