Is there any mechanics or anything in general that you would like to in more games?

Is there any game mechanics of some sorts in vns (or any other type of game) that you particularly like or would like to see used in more games as well?

This question sounds kind of open ended so I dunno, maybe you liked Hunniepop's tile matching gameplay and would totaly dig it if there was a bl or otome game that played the like it... Or a brand new gameplay element, really it could be anything.

I'd love to have something like P3P's FeMC route as an otome game actually. A full persona-like JRPG but Otome! I doubt it'll ever happen though.
Also that one mechanic of TMGS where the characters can say the player's name after inputting it in kana... that NEEDS to make a comeback <- the self-inserter in me is speaking rn. I couldn't care less about the heroine's default voiced names, but a name chosen by myself... yea I want that.

Goddd a dungeon crawling with a party jrpg otome game would be so fun to play. Maybe one day hopefully. Now that you mentioned tokimeki, I remember the delivery of the lines and the way names were said would have a slight tonal clash, the names would end up sounding a bit deadpan/robotic, it wasn't so bad though. Having voiced names is such a good feature that its suprising not even more games use it (but recording all those syllables in a way that would sound smooth together seems like a really tough work.)

With the way voice synths and autotune work these days (speaking just as a random vocaloid fan lmao) I was thinking that perhaps there could be a way of having something like a simple pitch setting for a voiced name system? Not that I think it wouldn't be costly or highkey a pain to record HAHA.

But definitely, dungeon crawling jrpg but otome my hypothetical beloved <3

Games like Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon where you can fight/duel! It would be so cool if there was more action and challenge mixed in otome games! I remember playing Yu-Gi-Oh! GX: The Beginning of Destiny a lot on PS2 when I was a kid, and I was totally head over heels for Zane (to be honest, I still am, there are things in life you can't avoid, one of them being your fictional childhood crushes!). I loved dueling with him, I even copied the same deck he used because I thought both him and the Cyber Dragon deck were amazing lol. I also made a point of endlessly reloading the save just to get his favorite foods to give him as gifts, and whenever he had the little heart in the dialogue bubble I got sad because I wanted to be able to date him, but the most I could do was have him as a duel partner (in my delusional mind he and my character were lovers). The closest thing on a otome game to that is Hana Awase, but the card fighting is sooo boring that it makes me a little down and depressed. I want a challenge! I want to give gifts and go for a walk around school and the surrounding areas! And I want to duel with my crush in a hard and difficult battle, not something that's so easy to win and leaves you zoning out! ԅ( ͒ ۝ ͒ )ᕤ

stat-raising / simulation elements.
Games like Jack Jeanne, Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side, or Love Revo!! are way more replayable for me because of that.
Even if I already know the story, the raising mechanics make each playthrough feel slightly different. Managing stats, planning schedules, trying to optimize for a specific character — it keeps my brain engaged instead of just clicking through text I've already read.
So when I go back to replay those kinds of games, I don't get bored as easily. The gameplay loop itself is fun, not just the romance, and that makes a huge difference for me.

I'd like more otome games with meaningless choices like Over Requiemz cause I don't think that every small word that you say to your LI can affect your happy ending with him instead just do small amount of choices that affect ending and that way everyone can do otome games without guides!

There are a lot of otome games like that, like Kamisama to Koigokoro, La Corda d'Oro, Glass Heart Princess, Wand of Fortune... but most aren't localized :( Even with my broken Japanese, I still download them to play on an emulator, even though I don't understand much, especially La Corda d'Oro. I couldn't get any ending with any of the boys, but at least it's fun to play the classic songs and hunt for them around the school lol

Yeah, of course, I get that! I just meant it would be awesome if more games included that kind of feature :>

I totally didn't think of this before reading your post, but yeeeeeeees, I need! I hate that they don't make FeMCs for these kind of games. It would be so much more engaging, especially when I get the itch to play JRPGs! You're totally right that it's probably never going to happen- I think I even read somewhere they have no plans to have FeMCs for any future Persona game, sadly. I was so upset when P3R didn't have FeMC, because the FeMC was the reason I picked up the Persona series, and it's one of my favourite games.

Honestly, I would just love for otome games that weren't just VNs or stat-raising (as long as it is still a good story/romance). Games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Baldur's Gate come to mind.

Hack and slash or a tactical rpg otome game…? I never thought about it before but I really love these two types of games, and if there was one that was specifically focused for women and had good romance I would really enjoy it!

I want open world otome game.... But with anime style, not realistic style (like LADS, etc)

I played Wayfarer on itch.io (not an otome though) and came to like the DnD inspired mechanism. It can be annoying sometimes, but the unpredictability that comes from rolling the dice is sorta fun, I'd like to see it implemented in a proper otome^^ (I don't think I've ever seen an otome like that, is there any, actually?)
