Characters you thought you'd love but left with a bad taste after?

I'll go first - Radie from Radiant Tale. I had high hopes for him, fave VA, best design in the game, IS the fluffy mascot, actually funny in every other route...and then we get to his and the game hits me with all the tropes I despise in otome. Siscon/brocons are borderline for me so for him to cross even that was too much.

What's yours?

I thought I would love Yang from Piofiore. A lot of people raved about his route like it was one of the bests in the game, and I am really interested in the evil/sadistic LIs who have a soft spot for the MC. I also liked his design the most. I loved Demento from Period Cube, and in that game he only got a semi-route so I thought that Yang would be a lot like him, but with a full route. It was not.

When I played Cupid Parasite, I was very excited to play Allan Melville's route. He always seemed very edgy and mysterious, which was right up my alley. But even after going through his route, I didn't fall in love with his character. Yes, his story is very bittersweet, but something just wasn't clicking for me. Maybe I need to retry after a while. (´ヘ｀()
 
Definitely Toma from Amnesia; he was completely different from what I imagined lol. Jisoo from Dandelion didn't leave a bad taste per se, but I was a little disappointed by his route (Jiwoo, who I thought would be the character I'd like the least, ended up being my favorite instead).

I tend to like considerate and kind characters, so at first, I get a good impression of them and start to look forward to the story. However, once I actually start playing that route, I often find that the character's violent side or rough tendencies come out much more strongly than I expected. It's not that the character's dark side or flaws are bad in themselves, but I do sometimes feel taken aback when they differ from the initial impression I had or the atmosphere I was expecting.
 
Pretty Witch Academy!, I'll start with this one. Honestly, I had high expectations during Carlos's first route, but then things went downhill from there. I discovered many things about him that I didn't like, and I was super disappointed. In Hiiro no Kakera, I'd say Takuma. Don't get me wrong, I do like him, and he's my favorite character in that game. I watched the anime and was so excited to play the game because of him, but his route was a total letdown. I do like him, but in the Hiiro no Kakera universe, Touma (Hiiro no Kakera: Shin Tamayori Hime Denshou) and Akira (Hisui no Shizuku - Hiiro no Kakera 2) fascinated and captivated me. As for Kago no Naka no Alicis, well, I had a terrible time with Kaito. I ended up hating the guy completely, just like Dr. Robin from Ozmafia, and Eins and Evans from Ijiwaru My Master. I had so much faith in these last four, but when I saw their routes, I ended up hating them. My soul, I honestly would never play them again for the rest of my life.

oof. that's rough. I personally am a fan of Yang but I do think his route is overhyped and people go into it with expectations. But Piofiore overall just wasn't my cup of tea. I thought it'd be darker but most of the routes turned out pretty tame for mafia.

I don't feel strongly for Allan either because the team did a 180 in his character once you got to know him. Almost like a bait-and-switch. While I did like his character overall, he definitely was one that suffered from having a character that was different from what was presented. Who ended up being your favorite?
 
I loved Hyuga form Paradigm Paradox at first, his design was very good and with a lot of potential but i have no idea whyyyy they wrote his route like that, he's so plain! he didn't have any character grow along his route and if it seems like he was about to have one then he would do something very stupid ending with his chapter of character developement. In general, paradigm paradox as an idea is very good, with a lot of potential but each route is a torture of bad writing, I was only able to play Kamui's route after him, and it was a lot better than that thing hyuga's route was. I'm not sure about the others, i also played Ayumu's route and to be honest i was annoyed by him most of the time lmaooo, really, they had everything in their hands to make those boys incredible routes and characters but it was such a dissapointing expecience, Kamui was the most cutest boy though, yet, i hate hyuga after that hahah

Sera from Blackish House. He's a great support character and his route starts up strong at the beginning but without spoiling anything, I couldn't stand him after what he did to his friends and the protagonist.
 
The only part I disliked about Radie route was the amnesia part; I hate that trope! I plan to play his Fanfare sequel in the future; I'm still putting it on hold. If I were to say something specific, one I recently played would be Alfred (Mistonia). I love characters like him; he was my second or third choice when I played his route, and well... was everything very neutral in his route? I didn't feel any dislike, but I also didn't feel any affection for him per se. I don't know if I expected anything, since I tend to like his type of character quite a bit, but he remained in a neutral area until the end of the game.
 
Himeutsugi from Hana Awase...😭 i thought i'd love him since i love love yandere characters and even more so since he's voiced by one of my fave VA. sadly his character just gives me the ick with some of the stuff he pulls in his route especially the whole thing with his minamos (he'd profess his love and then the next scene u see him being really intimate with other girls it's just... eyuckk).
 
Awayuki - Illusion of Itehari

Told me to grow up, when I wanted him to stay with me.
Kept nagging every time I saw him.
Didn't let me eat my cake because he put me on a diet!
I was as wide-eyed as Yashiro questioning MC's and Awayuki's dynamics.
And what's worse is Yori's Bad Ending!
